Welcome back!

I am bummed to hear you didn't enjoy the concerts. My own is October 9th and I gotta admit I'm not even remotely excited yet.

I loved Ireland when I visited, but was not impressed with Galway. It was too crowded. It's hard to explain... I've certainly been to busier cities, but I never felt like everyone was right on top of me. But in Galway, a smaller city, I did feel that way. And I didn't care for it.

Oh, I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy the concerts. They were good, moments of greatness even, and a couple of individual songs did pretty much blow me away (though, as I say, no show on the whole blew me away). Most concerts by most bands don't really tend to blow me away, even if they're really good - it takes something exceptional, and I kind of expect that from U2. I definitely enjoyed myself while I was at the shows; I'm just glad I didn't travel specifically for them and them alone.

Galway was exceptionally crowded when we visited, thanks to some horse racing carnival being on at the same time. But I found it rather to my liking really. I liked the old town and just the general vibe. Smaller cities suit me better than large ones, really.

Hi!

Your trip sounds absolutely fantastic- I am well jealous! *glowers at her bank account* So glad to see that you enjoyed Ireland- one of my all time favourite countries and still very much my spiritual home. Haven't been to the North yet- really must go, especially to the Giant's Causeway.

Sorry to hear that our old mates U2 weren't quite up to scratch. :( Turns out they may be doing a couple of gigs at the caketin here in Welly! I will almost definitely go if they do come here, but I certainly can't say I'm jumping out of my skin with excitement in the same way I was back in '06. Guess my musical tastes have evolved a fair bit since then. But...I guess you never really forget your first love, as it were. *shrug* We'll see.

Oh my goodness. It's been so long since you updated that the other day I was just thinking that you must have been swallowed by some sort of sea monster.

But it's good that you had such an enjoyable trip! What are these songs they were soundchecking in Ireland?

Also glad to hear you had a good trip, and looking forward to the photographs.
