I thought I would share my tale of sewing machine struggles in case it helps anyone else. Info on this particular problem is scarce on the 'net and took me hours of research to figure out. The story has a happy ending

I've had that problem numerous times before with my machine. I have a Bernina, and it's a top loader like that with a plastic bobbin case doodad. My case also looked like that. When that happened, and it jumped out and poked holes in itself, one of two things was usually going on for me: 1) The bobbin was wound too loosely and all sorts of fun thread was puckering up on the underside of the fabric, or 2)The timing got royally thrown off. Sometimes the tension would get thrown off after the bobbin case took a vacation to needleland. I had no idea that the bobbin case stopper could get misaligned XP
