Rating: PG for language
Genre: Crack
Summary: Jealousy leads to unexpected surprises.

Key had heard once that being in love was the most wonderful feeling.

Whoever he heard it from was obviously asking for a death wish.

The sudden realization crept into Key so suddenly, much like a snake biting his ass. It was unexpected, unpredicted, and totally unwelcome.

Key was not happy about it at all.

It all began when some of their SNSD noonas decided to drop by the SHINee dorm. Normally Key welcomed them, but today Hyoyeon-noona came and completely monopolized Jinki. They talked in a corner, and the way they sat so close together and giggled made him grind his teeth and he badly wanted to scratch Hyoyeon's eyes out.

Key, being Key, refused to admit he was jealous. He put it down to Jessica's laugh being annoying and his mood being bad in general. When he'd had enough, he shoved all the noonas out, inwardly enjoying pushing Hyoyeon extra hard out the door.

Even then, the realization still hadn't hit him.

The second incident came when he found Jinki talking on his phone. He was wearing a goofy grin the size of Jupiter, and it made Key wonder who he was talking to.

Luckily, Taemin's curiosity was piqued too, and the maknae bounced over to his hyung and unceremoniously grabbed the phone, chirping out, a "Hello, who is this?", ignoring the stunned Jinki. There was a pause, before a mischievous smile crept up the maknae's lips. "Oh, hello Hyoyeon-noona~"

Hyoyeon...?

Moments later, Jinki stared down at his burnt dinner in confusion, Key refused to say a word, and Taemin was wearing an 'I-know-something' smile.

---------------------------------------------------------

After a few days of brooding over the phone-call-incident, Key decided it wasn't any of his damn business who Jinki decided to like. As he ironed Minho's school uniform, he brooded some more, looking up absently when Jonghyun walked past, reading a text message with a grin.

"Who's it from? Donghae-hyung?" he teased. Jonghyun reddened.

"Y-Yah, babo! It's from Jinki, he says he's out with Hyoyeon-noona, lucky bastard~"

Out with Hyoyeon...?

"Yeah, and--YAH! Kibum, you're burning Minho's uniform!"

Moments later, Minho stared grimly at the massive hole in the center of his uniform, Jonghyun was confused, Taemin was still wearing his secretive smile, and Key locked himself in their room for the rest of the day.

---------------------------------------------------------

It had been exactly a week after the first incident when it finally hit Kibum. As mentioned before, it was unexpected, unpredicted, and totally, completely, utterly unwelcome.

He had been preparing lunch, expertly chopping the vegetables when Minho walked (more like glided, he did it so silently) towards the fridge to get some milk. Key had absently asked where Jinki was, still busily chopping the vegetables.

"Oh, hyung? He said he was going out to have lunch with Hyoyeon-noona."

Lunch with Hyoyeon...?

"And that he was going to be--Kibum, your hand's bleeding." Minho sounded so calm, completely unruffled from seeing Key's blood soaking the vegetables. (He hadn't quite gotten over his burnt uniform.) Jonghyun ambled inside the kitchen, took one look at the bloody hand, and promptly fainted. Taemin's curiosity was piqued at the commotion, and at seeing the blood (Minho calmly phoning their manager at this point) screamed loud enough to bring the whole dorm down.

Moments later, Minho was cleaning up the mess, Taemin was still crying a little, Jonghyun still looked sick, and their manager was wrapping Key's arm with a bandage, tutting the whole time.

Just then, only then, did it hit him.

---------------------------------------------------------

"That bastard! Does he want to die?"

The burst of anger was so sudden, the bandage roll bounced from the manager's hands. All four stared in stunned confusion when Key suddenly burst to life, his body vibrating with some sort of surpressed rage.

"That bastard--I didn't want this--I refuse to admit--AISH--" Yes, whoever said that being in love was a wonderful feeling was the biggest liar in the universe.

He knew he wasn't making any sense, and everyone's efforts to calm him down were useless. He was so angry, so very angry--

The timing was so perfect, Key couldn't help but laugh about it in the future.

The door opened, and Jinki stepped in with such a sunny smile it was blinding. Key could still smell Hyoyeon's perfume lingering, and he literally saw red.

"I'm back~"

Key reacted to this by giving the object of his affection, the love of his life...

A solid punch on the face.

---------------------------------------------------------

"Kibum-ah, please open the door."
"Yah, Kibum, what the heck's wrong with you?"
"Kibum-umma??"
"Kibum. My school bag's in there, I need to do my homework."

The last response was so typical of Minho that Key couldn't help but laugh. He lurched out of his bed, grabbed Minho's bag, and shuffled towards the door. He knew four people were waiting outside.

"If any of you attempt to come in, you'll be eating tofu for a month from losing all your teeth." Key's deadly voice sent chills down their spines, and they immediately stepped back from the door. The door opened an inch, and Key shoved Minho's bag out the door. Minho thanked him quietly, walking off, clearly uninterested at the drama.

Key was about to close the door again when an unstoppable force pushed from the other side.

---------------------------------------------------------

Key was still massaging his nose (slightly worried if it was broken) when he suddenly realized who was in the room with him. His back went up, and he could feel his cheeks growing red for no reason. Aish, how embarrassing.

He almost punched Jinki again when he felt hands cupping his cheeks and brushing away at his bangs, before his eyes met Jinki's worried ones. He scrambled away, his face heating up so much he was struggling to breathe.

"Y-Y-Y-Yah! D-Do you have a deathwish?" Jinki, who was either oblivious or just plain stupid, scrambled after him, those large eyes still staring at him. Key's heart pitter-pattered so fast he felt like he was having a heart attack.

"I, um, I like tofu." The random piece of information was paired with a cheesy smile.

Key was so tempted to start singing, "Whatever he does, it's Onew Sangtae~" but he didn't think he had enough strength. Aish, those deep brown eyes were so sexy and he was couldn't help but fall more in love with him and--

Wait wait, when did he become so damn cheesy?

"T-Tofu? What the heck? Are you an idiot?" he babbled, trying to get away again, but Jinki cornered him neatly.

"You said we'd be eating tofu for a month if we attempted to come in. Remember?"

Key remembered no such thing, feeling lightheaded from their closeness, and he could practically feel Jinki's heat, and he was so damn embarrassed--

"Kibum. Can you tell me what's been bothering you for the past week?" Key refused to answer, trying to look anywhere but at Jinki's eyes. Jinki shook him lightly, making him even more jittery. "Yah Kibum, if you don't tell me I'll, um, I'll kiss you!"

Key was torn, very torn.

On one hand, he could just not say a word, and he'd get a kiss. Aish, what was he thinking, he didn't really want a kiss, not really--

He turned his head, and Jinki's face was literally a few inches from his.

Perhaps sheer panic and giddiness finally pushed him to the edge.

"I LIKE YOU!"

The shouted confession was paired with another solid punch.

---------------------------------------------------------

Taemin looked thrilled, Jonghyun was laughing his ass off, and Minho was frowning because he couldn't concentrate on his homework with all the noise.

Key was seated on one side of the sofa, his face burning with embarrassment.

Jinki was holding an ice pack on his cheek, which had suffered Key's punch twice in a span of a few hours.

There wasn't any use hiding the surprise confession since Key's shout was so loud maybe even their SNSD noonas heard it. Key didn't want to know. He wanted to dig a hole and bury himself alive, and Jonghyun's laughter was irritating the hell out of him--

"Guys, can you leave us for a second?" Jinki mumbled, since his entire right cheek was swollen. Minho nodded, dragging a still-laughing Jonghyun with him, Taemin giving them a thumbs-up before bouncing after his hyungs. Key bounded up to leave, but Jinki cornered him again.

"Kibum-ah, please don't punch me again. It really hurts." Key smothered his laugh, feeling giddy again. He was about to attempt another escape when he felt something soft press against his cheek.

He turned his head in surprise, and froze when Jinki's lips touched his.

The kiss was clumsy and slightly awkward, their teeth bumping against each other, and they were both obviously inexperienced but it was...

It was heavenly. Key felt his heart flutter as Jinki deepened the kiss.

Okay, so maybe that person he heard wasn't such a liar.

Not So Short Epilogue~

"Jinki."

"Hmm?"

"You, um, well. Never mind." Jinki laughed at the incomprehensible mumbles. He gently brushed Key's bangs away from his eyes, and observed the sheer beauty of the boy in front of him, the boy he loved, and now loved him back. Key's cheeks reddened again, and he chuckled.

"Come on, tell me." Key shook his head, and rolled over so he was faced with his back. So cute, Jinki thought with a grin. He bent and sneakily nibbled on the tip of the younger boy's ear, a newly-discovered sensitive spot. As expected, Key squeaked, squirming. "Tell me~"

"Okay, okay." Key rolled away, but Jinki rolled him back, cuddling him. The poor boy was so red, obviously embarrassed, but Jinki was enjoying this too much.

"Why were you--umm...Why were you with Hyoyeon-noona so much?" At this, Jinki jolted, slapping his palm on his forehead.

"Aigoo! I can't believe I forgot!" Key watched with confusion and surprise when Jinki jumped out of the bed to where his coat was, taking something from the pocket. Jinki turned back to him with a secretive smile.

"Close your eyes and hold your hand out~" Key blinked in curiosity, but obeyed.

Something cold slid on the ring finger of his left hand.

He opened his eyes slowly, staring blankly at the silver band on his finger. He looked up at Jinki, then down at the band again. He was quite speechless.

"It's uh, a promise ring." Jinki held up his left hand, and a matching ring was in place. "I was asking Hyoyeon on a good way to confess, since I was going to confess to you sometime, but you came first, so I was really surprised, and..." He trailed off, blushing slightly in embarrassment. "Do you-Do you like it? Kibum?"

Key stared at the glinting silver, feeling his heart melt more and more. Aish, how could he not love this man?

He pulled Jinki down, not caring if there were tears in his eyes. "Babo. Kiss me, now."

Jinki's grin of happiness was radiant, before their lips met again.

---------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so the epilogue was a bit long. I couldn't resist. XD I wrote the whole fic centering on Key's jealousy with Hyoyeon, then nearly forgot to explain why Jinki was with Hyoyeon in the first place LOL.
