Summary: I wish I hadn’t fall so hard for you, dear stranger. AU
They met at the local cafe where he works at.
He ordered the cafe’s specialty cappucino that no one really orders and the stranger stayed at the counter while waiting for his order, his eyes never leaving Yuto’s practiced fingers handling the machine.
At first, Yuto was apprehensive of the charming young man that walked through the entrance that afternoon with the ability to make anyone feel at ease when talking to him but he took him up on the offer for coffee.
Yuto’s shift ended a good four hour after the invite, to which he had asked the stranger to not wait up for him but he insisted on staying at the table directly in front of his station while waiting for his shift to end. He commented that he’d rather look at Yuto handling the coffee machine than taking a walk alone in town.
When his shift finally ended, the two of them made their way around town.
Ryosuke was the stranger’s name, he discovered a while later and preferred to be called just by that. Yuto was not one to prod deeper than necessary, so he never did asked about his full name.
They talked as they pass through some shops; mostly it’s Ryosuke asking Yuto about himself, his work at the cafe and his family. Only after a while did he realise that Ryosuke didn’t utter a word about himself.
A small invitation turned into a full night out with Ryosuke. When the sky has turned dark, he asked Yuto to show him places he liked to go to when he’s not working. Eagerly, Yuto had led him to the park he frequents on Sunday evening, occasionally playing with the town’s children; the dingy little pub downtown that no one really knows about where he’d come in to play the drums when the local band asked him to and the quaint cake shop that he’d go to just to talk to the elderly owner.
“Ne, Ryosuke-kun, aren’t you bored with only me talking?” he finally gathered up the courage to ask the guy that’s slowly carving a place in his heart after they’ve settled at one of the benches in the park.
Yuto realised they’ve been out for a long time because the sun started to peek through the clouds, slowly warming up the world.
Ryosuke shook his head lightly, with a chuckle, “No, not really, because Yuto-kun is interesting. I like Yuto-kun,” he replied earnestly with that charming smile of his.
He smiled back and they sat there in a comfortable silence until cars started to fill the road and Yuto can see students crossing the road to get to school.
When it’s time to say goodbye, no words came out of Yuto’s mouth; he simply stood there, looking at Ryosuke.
“I’ll definitely look for Yuto-kun when I come here again!” said Ryosuke cheerily, inadvertently causing Yuto to smile too.
“I’m holding on to your words, Ryosuke-kun,” he replied in a joking tone even if he knew the possibility of meeting Ryosuke again might be very low but he’s content with holding on to that small promise between two stranger.
Ryosuke turned the opposite way and looked back, ”Jaa na, Yuto-kun,” before walking away and and slowly becoming smaller in Yuto’s line of vision.
Since then, Yuto waited for someone to walk through the door and order the same cappuccino he did.
