While I love them both, I disagree with you. Temperence Brennan in the show make some mistakes. Mistake which are ALWAYS overlooked and forgiven in some way or another, because of the positive aspects of her character which usually cover for them. I.E, "you are not as cold as people think you are..". While I agree she isn't perfect, her flaws IMO are not apparent enough. It is easier to connect with her, because she has great things about her as I mentioned, while the tempe in the books less so (and while we are younger than her, and havent been through the same things as her).
TB in the book is also a teacher and an anthropologist, a novelist? I don't know. But TB on the show being a novelist is how the creators explained why the show is different than the books.
Yes, they are different, but I still had the need to compare. And don't get me wrong, I love the show alot.
I am excited as well. :D (although I am back to school now, so I won't be able to watch it till alot later than usually). Hmm so I just finished reading devil bones and read an interview with KR in which she regards the Tempe in the show as the younger virsion of Tempe of the books, before she went to Montreal and met Ryan (although Ryan is mentioned in the show so it's kinda weird) also "when I created Tempe I wanted her to have flaws, to be imperfect, spproachable, someone with whome the reader could indentify. Tempe has problems, but problems that she's handling. Her alcoholism, her family life. Her relationship with Andrew Ryan"
I haven't seen a lot of Bones episodes although I do like the show. I prefer the books though, but not just in this instance (I almost always prefer reading to TV, and I've sort of grown up with Dr. Brennan in the books as opposed to the TV character.)
You should see more, because it's an awesome show regardless of everything i just said. I have just read the last two books, and only the last three books were ever brought to israel quite recently (it's not an excuse, but its harder to know about books when you don't see them around). Anyways, I am catching up on all of the books and giving Kathy Reichs more money anyways. :D
I'm jst gonna love the books because it makes me giggle like crazy knowing KR has to define depanneurs to anyone outside of Quebec. :D
I just think TV Brennan has friends from her field because they have their work in common, outside of work she's completely incapable of social relationships outside her very tight-knit circle of friends and family.

And you know that Temperance Brennan in the show isn't based on the books right? It's based on Kathy Reichs' life!
Just thought I should let you know!
