The walls of the studio were vibrating from the force of the music. The sharp, precise drum beats; the strong, powerful bass; the rough, melodious guitars; and the unique, entrancing vocals. Each musician was playing with emotion, moving around and smiling and enjoying themselves. As the music came to a crescendo they seemed to become even more lively. Nao was watching his bandmates with a smile; Hiroto and Tora were bouncing around the room, Saga was trying to dance while playing his bass, and Shou was dancing as if nobody was watching. Finally the song came to a close. Everyone stood still as the last tremors of sound flowed through the room.
“That. Was. Awesome!” Saga suddenly shouted.
“Yes, it was!” Nao exclaimed, standing up from his drum set. “And on that note, we can call the practice finished!”
“We should all go out for ramen to celebrate!” Saga said, looking around at the others.
“Oh, I can’t go,” Tora spoke up. “I have to pick up that new guitar I ordered.”
“Yea, I can’t go either Saga-kun,” Hiroto said. “I promised my brother that I would visit him today.”
“Manager-san gave me a list of places that have contacted the label about getting interviews with us so I need to go through and pick which ones are worth doing,” Nao explained as he showed the others a fairly large folder.
“Wow! All of these people want to talk to us?” Shou asked as he flipped through the pages.
“Yea, so I really should get to work on this so I won’t be up all night, sorry Sagacchi,” Nao said as he took the folder back from Shou and moved toward the door. “I’ll see you guys at practice tomorrow, maybe we can all go out then!” Then Nao left as the others chimed a goodbye.
“I should get going too, the store closes in two hours,” Tora commented as he picked up his bag.
“Oh! Tora-shi, do you think you could drive me back to my house? I don’t want to be late in meeting my brother,” Hiroto asked as he tugged on his boots and grabbed his bag.
“Of course, Pon,” Tora replied. “See you tomorrow!” He called as he opened the door. Hiroto waved to the other two as he followed Tora out the door.
“Well, would you like to go eat with me, Shou-kun?” Saga asked, turning to the taller male.
“Sure!” Shou smiled and went to go get his bag. “Let’s go to that new place down the street, I heard that it was really good.”
“Okay,” Saga replied and the two set off for the shop.
The walk to the shop was fairly silent as there were many people on the street, making it hard for them to walk side-by-side. The two men entered the shop and sat down at a table. A waitress soon coming over to get their orders. After the waitress had left Saga looked over at Shou.
“So, did you have fun with Hiroppon yesterday?” he asked. He figured that since he had Shou alone this would be a good time to find out if he had any feelings for the young guitarist. Shou smiled brightly at him in response.
“Yes! Although we didn’t talk much. Hiroshi’s the kind of person that seems to make you feel relaxed whenever you’re around him, you know?”
“Yeah.” Saga nodded. He knew exactly what Shou meant. Hiroto was very easy to get along with and just seemed to have this power to make you feel calm and cheerful just by being in the same room as him.
“You know he told me you were cuddling with him when he woke up this morning,” Saga stated leaning in towards Shou. “I didn’t expect you to be so dominate Shou-kun! Or should I call you Shou-sama?”
“Sagacchi!” Shou exclaimed, shocked. Then he blushed, “He told you that?” the dark-haired man softly asked, looking extremely shy as he did.
“Yes, he did,” Saga replied. “Is there anything you want to tell me Shou-kun?” Saga lightly sang.
“Um, no, not particularly,” Shou mumbled, glancing to his side.
“Ah ha! That means that you are hiding something!” Saga pointed at Shou accusingly. “Come on, you can tell me!” he urged.
Just as Shou was opening his mouth to reply to Saga, the waitress came up with their food. She smiled at the two as she set the two bowls down, gave a quick bow, and moved on to the next table. Shou took this opportunity to dig into his food immediately, stalling so that he wouldn’t have to respond to Saga. But Saga knew this trick, Shou always tried to get out of talking about something he was embarrassed about.
“Don’t you think that you’re getting away from me tonight without answering my question,” Saga said. “I’m not letting you get away that easy.”
Shou blushed and looked up from his bowl. He took a sip of his drink and cleared his throat. “Okay I might have a small crush on Pon,” Shou replied in a small voice, glancing around in a paranoid fashion, worried that someone was listening in. “But it’s no use, he could never like someone like me,” Shou started picking at his food.
“Why do you say that, Shou-kun?” Saga asked, concerned. He never saw Shou as the type to be self-conscious.
“Because, he’s just so outgoing, so friendly, and so attractive. He would never date someone like me! I’m shy and no where near as good-looking, and I’m a total otaku!” Shou exclaimed, looking up at Saga with a helpless expression.
“Shou-kun, what are you talking about? Why wouldn’t he want to date you?” Saga replied, shocked.
“Now, I’m saying this as a friend, I’m not trying to hit on you or anything but you’re really attractive. Tall, skinny, fashionable and you have really nice eyes. You’re also really fun to be around and you’re not that shy once you get used to people. And must I point out how much of a Spiderman fan-boy Hiroto-kun is?” Saga paused. “Let me guess, you’ve been telling yourself all this for awhile now so that you wouldn’t be disappointed if you never got in a relationship with Pon, right?”
Shou nodded his head.
“Well stop thinking that way, Shou-kun. You’re an amazing person and I’m sure Pon would like someone like you.”
Shou smiled. “Thanks, Sagacchi.”
“Anytime, Shou-kun.”
The two men finished their meal as they talked about their upcoming tour. Then after paying for the meal they stood up, left the shop, and slowly walked down the street that would lead Shou to his home and would lead Saga to the bus stop. Not a lot of people were walking around at this time and the two were walking slowly, enjoying the calm weather outside.
“It’s so nice out here,” Shou murmured. “Just like last night.”
Saga hummed in agreement as they came up to the sign marking the bus stop. He turned to Shou, putting his hand on the other's shoulders. “Look Shou-kun I want you to remember what I said about Pon, alright? Don’t get yourself down because you never know what will happen. You know, people always say to expect the unexpected,” Saga winked. “Now, you should get home, it’s getting late and it won’t do you any good to be late for practice again tomorrow.” Saga lightly pushed the vocalist in the direction towards his home, giving him a smile.
Shou smiled at Saga before leaning over and giving him a hug, “I’ll keep it in mind, Saga-kun.”
Shou moved away from Saga and resumed walking home. He turned around and waved at Saga right before he turned the corner onto the street his apartment building was located, then disappeared around the corner of a building.
“Looks like I’m playing Cupid now,” Saga murmured to himself as the bus pulled up.
