A/N: I'm just getting into the recent Yamajima craze that's been going around with their new drama and single and all, my second fic is a little short, but I wanted to write a fic about Hey!Say!JUMP in hopes of making Annie proud. She probably would've liked for me to add more JUMP love to her journal :) On a side note, I really am very excited for the single to come out, but I guess that doesn't really excuse my lack of a creative title... xD
(that scene that everyone's going crazy about... xD)
“THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!” Yuto grinned widely, his arms spread wide, punching fists into the air in triumph. “I can’t wait! I can’t wait!” He professed giddily, practically bouncing off the walls, exuberance radiating from his lanky frame.
Sitting down in a chair by the table on the far side of the dressing room, Ryosuke smiled sheepishly, amused by his friend’s naïve antics and pure excitement. No matter how many years they had stood on the stage together as friends, Yuto never failed to wear that same shining smile on his face. It had come to a point where Ryosuke didn’t even try to calm Yuto down any more, knowing his efforts would simply be in vain. Ryosuke knew Yuto just loved to perform, and the mere thought of the cheers of an audience just made him so… happy.
He had a right to be happy, too, in Ryosuke’s opinion. Yuto was the most amazing performer he’d ever had the privilege to be partnered with. Despite his crazed rampages backstage, whenever Yuto stepped into the spotlight, he shone brighter than any other star. His inexplicable ability to fill every dance with passion, every song with emotion, made his every performance near-flawless.
But even though Yuto had his little imperfections, it was his admirable perseverance in facing his mistakes, his unyielding smile and never-ending strive to simply try his best, that struck Ryosuke as the most perfect Yuto of all.
Because of this, Ryosuke never doubted Yuto. He never tried to stop him from being his hyper-fun, high-tensioned self. That is, until Yuto quieted himself down and came over to talk to Ryosuke on his own accord.
“So how do you think the audience will like our new song?” Yuto asked, his voice lined with his usual cheerful optimism.
Seeing his friend approaching him from afar, Ryosuke smiled. “I’m sure they’ll love ‘SUPER DELICATE’, Yuto. It’s the theme song to our drama, after all,” he added jokingly.
“Of course,” Yuto laughed. “And I really, really love the choreography this time around. The formations, the sharpness of it all…” His voice lingered as he paused, stared off into the distance with a dreamy smile tugging at his lips.
Ryosuke couldn’t help but smile back at his friend’s silliness, waiting patiently for Yuto to finish his thought after returning from his zoning off.
“You’ll look especially cool though, Ryosuke.”
“Me?” Ryosuke laughed. “Why me? Why not you?”
Yuto pouted slightly, as if troubled by the direct question. “But you’re front and center for many of the formations, plus all the fans love to watch you dance… me included, of course,” Yuto grinned again, looking proud of his friend’s undeniable popularity.
“Yuto…” Ryosuke quickly dropped his gaze to look down at his shoes, afraid that the warmth of happiness he felt could be seen coloring his cheeks. Deep down, Yuto’s approval meant more than the world to him, but he couldn’t let his friend realize this.
After Ryosuke had averted his gaze, Yuto’s smile turned gentle, and an unfamiliar wave of timidity flushing his softened features with a light glow of pink. “As for that part in the dance… do you think… do you think we’re ready for it?” he mumbled quietly.
“What part?” Ryosuke questioned, lifting his gaze upward to look into Yuto’s large, brown eyes.
“That part,” Yuto insisted, glancing to the side in order to avoid Ryosuke’s gaze.
“Wh-What part?” Ryosuke asked again, his words tumbling as his mind suddenly caught on to what Yuto could be referring to. But he was too embarrassed to admit he was nervous about that part as well.
Yuto bit his lip. “You know, that part…”
“What part, Yuto?” Ryosuke tried his best to keep his voice from wavering. He was completely sure, that had to be the part Yuto was thinking of, but he wasn’t going to confess that he knew the truth. He wanted to hear Yuto say it.
“The part where we…” Yuto faltered, unable to form the words. “The part where I…” His voice trailed off in a soft murmur. Lifting his gaze to finally meet Ryosuke’s eyes, which were now widening in shock, Yuto then slowly, hesitantly, leaned in closer, gently touching his fingers to Ryosuke’s cheek.
“This part…”
“Y-Yuto…” Ryosuke whispered, his breath caught in his throat, stifled, by the pounding of his heart. Without breaking their gazes, locked upon each other’s eyes, Ryosuke slowly lifting up his hand and brought his own fingers to Yuto’s reddened cheek. “I think… I think we’re ready for this,” he murmured softly, before leaning in to close the distance between their delicate lips.
