Title: 7 Days by Fate
Author: Annie
Pairing: Yamachii
Genre: Fluff, Romance
Rating: PG
Summary: Ryosuke and Chinen used to be the best of friends, until recently, as they just can't seem to avoid fighting. When the rest of JUMP gets tired of their constant arguing, they decide to lock the two "friends" into a hotel room for a week so that they are forced to sort out their troubles. But as each day progresses, more and more problems arise between the two captives, and in the process of trying to fix their friendship, they begin to realize that they've been imprisoned by love.
A/N: It's been a long time... but I'm back :) I've talked a lot with Alyce, and I'm really thankful for what she's done. I've learned a lot from everything that's happened. I'm not entirely sure what will happen after this, but for now, this is enough for me. This fic is my journey.
Day One: Hesitations
“I think you two just need to spend some private time together… sort some things out. Then, you can finally go back to being best friends again, right?” Yuto smiled gently, tucking the key to the hotel room in his pocket. The rest of JUMP looked to him and nodded. Muffled banging from within the room suggested otherwise. Yuto winced at the sounds of his two friends’ yells echoing from inside.
“It may seem like harsh punishment now, but in hindsight, I’m sure they’ll thank us later,” Kota murmured softly, as if in an attempt to convince himself more than anyone else.
“Yeah, so don’t feel bad about it; I’m sure everything will work out in the end,” Kei nodded, putting his hand on Kota’s shoulder encouragingly.
Keito sighed, expelling the tension they all had built up within. “I think… a week should be enough time.”
“Let’s hope so,” Yuya bit his lip.
“Come on guys, let’s try not to think about it too much, it’s not like it’ll kill them to be together for a week.” Daiki tried his best to smile hopefully.
“At least, that’s what we think,” Hikaru grimaced.
Yuto frowned. I really do hope they’ll be okay…

“I can’t believe they actually did this to us.” Chinen rolled his eyes, throwing his wearied fists against the locked door one last time before sinking down to the ground in defeat.
Ryosuke looked at him, his gaze disapproving, then sighed heavily.
“What? Am I not good enough to be stuck in a room with you or something?” Chinen raised an eyebrow.
“Chinen …” Ryosuke trailed off, unable to say anything more. He slowly walked over to his friend by the doorway and crouched down beside him.
“And this is why we grew apart, Ryosuke,” Chinen frowned. “You always baby me, like I’m some sort of poor, helpless child. I don’t need you to be my guardian or whatever.”
“Well what am I supposed to do then? Ignore you when you whine about your life? Turn away when you try to complain to me about every single tiny thing that goes wrong?” Ryosuke had raised his voice, obviously getting annoyed by Chinen’s disregard.
Chinen rolled his eyes once more. “I do not complain to you about my life! I love who I am right now, you of all people should know this about me. Just because we stop talking about you for one split second, doesn’t mean that I’m trying to steal away your spot at the center of attention!” Chinen abruptly stood up, not wanting to be in such close proximity with his so-called “friend” anymore, as he turned away from Ryosuke.
Ryosuke, of course, stood up as well. “I’m not always at the center of attention! What are you talking about, Chinen?” He demanded, pulling on Chinen’s shoulder to force him to turn back around.
“What are you talking about…” Chinen muttered bitterly, his eyes averting Ryosuke’s stern gaze.
Ryosuke froze, letting go of Chinen’s shoulder as the smaller boy slowly shook his head, and began to walk away.
But just as Ryosuke was about to turn around, having given up, Chinen’s gentle voice caught him in his steps.
“Ryosuke, wait,” He began softly, his gaze downcast as his bangs cast his eyes into shadow. “I’m sorry we keep arguing like this, but we might as well try to figure out what we’re going to do now… Even if we can’t manage to get along…”
Ryosuke lowered his gaze, ignoring the sharp pain that was now stabbing his chest, and nodded. But Chinen… why can’t we just get along?
Inaudibly, Chinen sighed, his back still turned to his friend. Why can’t we just go back to the way things were before, Ryosuke?

It had been a long first day. But somehow, the two of them had managed to make it through the rest of the afternoon without speaking a single word beyond what was necessary. It was a strange hotel room, that which their fellow JUMP members had chosen for them, equipped with a kitchen, a living room, but only one bedroom, with only one bed. When they came upon this, Chinen looked over at Ryosuke skeptically, but it was at this moment they finally spoke.
“Do you want the bed?” Chinen offered indifferently.
“You can take it,” Ryosuke shrugged.
“No, you should,” Chinen replied.
“Why? Trying to make yourself look like the better person?” Ryosuke frowned.
“Are you?” Chinen countered, crossing his arms again.
“Well, I’m not taking the bed, so I’ll just sleep on the floor.” Ryosuke stated bluntly.
“I’m not taking it either,” Chinen retorted.
“Don’t be silly, one of us should sleep in it, otherwise what would be the point of there being one at all?” Ryosuke scoffed.
“I’m not going to sleep in it, no matter what you say,” Chinen answered defiantly.
“Fine, then there will be no point.” Ryosuke sighed. Why must you be so stubborn, Chinen…?
Chinen rolled his eyes. Ryosuke, why can’t you just accept it when I’m trying to be nice to you?

That night, Ryosuke had cooked up some food, seeing as the JUMP members had kindly remembered to stock up the refrigerator beforehand, but when he offered some to Chinen, the younger boy refused.
“I’m not a baby,” he stated, annoyance present in his voice.
“Chinen, you shouldn’t skip meals… we don’t even know how long they’re planning on leaving us in here. How can you survive without eating?” Ryosuke tried to mask his worry from his face.
“I won’t die,” Chinen retorted.
I really hope not… But Ryosuke couldn’t find the strength anything in reply. No matter what he said, his words would be taken in offense. He didn’t want to argue anymore. Not with Chinen.
“Whatever, I’m going to go to sleep, don’t wake me up.” Chinen yawned, ignoring Ryosuke’s lack of an answer as he walked into the bedroom.
Chinen…
When Ryosuke finished his dinner, he sighed, trying to figure out a way to coerce Chinen into eating. But anything he did, he knew Chinen would just take as some twisted insult. Out of ideas, Ryosuke simply headed into the bedroom to try and get some sleep before his troubles overflowed his mind. As soon as he walked in, Ryosuke smiled gently, seeing Chinen had actually slept on the floor, with nothing but a pillow under his head.
You don’t have to pretend to be a better person, Chinen… I’ll still be your friend, no matter what.
Ryosuke pulled the sheets off of the bed and draped them over Chinen’s body, still fully clothed and fully asleep.
“Good night, Chii,” he whispered softly, before lying down on the floor on the other side of the bed, wrapping himself in the warmth of the comforter, and placing a pillow under his head.
