A/N: It's been a long time... but I'm back :) I've talked a lot with Alyce, and I'm really thankful for what she's done. I've learned a lot from everything that's happened. I'm not entirely sure what will happen after this, but for now, this is enough for me. This fic is my journey.
Day Five: Surprises and Accidents
As the sun gently rose on the morning of the fifth day, Chinen smiled as he lazily blinked open his eyes, remembering what had happened the night before. He had fallen asleep, enveloped in the warmth of Ryosuke’s embrace, and the soft touch of Ryosuke’s lips on his forehead. Chinen prided himself in his ability to feign sleep so well, and was about to giggle at the thought of Ryosuke calling him “Chii-chan” again, the way he used to, back when they were little kids, when suddenly, Chinen realized, Ryosuke was nowhere to be found.
An unmistakable pout formed on Chinen’s lips as his heart fell. I guess… Ryosuke didn’t want to stay with me… He reasoned dejectedly. I thought… we could’ve woken up together, got out of bed together, maybe even… no, we probably wouldn’t change clothes together… but still…
Sitting up in bed, Chinen let out a soft sigh. I suppose that means there’s no point in me acting sick anymore either… since that was the whole reason behind his willingness to sleep with me, to make me feel better. I shouldn’t take advantage of Ryosuke anymore.
Chinen took a deep breath, sighed for a second time, then pulled himself onto his feet to go around and look for his missing friend. He was curious as to what Ryosuke was up to, so curious, that he stepped out the room as quietly as he could, in an attempt to catch Ryosuke in the act of whatever it was that he was doing.
As Chinen slowly crept over, he noticed Ryosuke sitting, with his back facing towards him, by the dining table, his hands outstretched before him, he seemed to be examining his fingers closely. I wonder what he’s staring at… Chinen raised an eyebrow, but decided against judging his friend any more beyond that.
Smiling deviously to himself, Chinen lightly tiptoed his way over to Ryosuke until he was standing right behind the older boy, who, luckily, seemed so preoccupied by his hands that he hadn’t noticed Chinen’s presence at all. Then, Chinen attacked.
Without warning, he wrapped his arms around Ryosuke’s neck from behind, hugging his shoulders. The older boy immediately jumped in his chair, startled by Chinen’s sudden outburst.
Chinen giggled, at his friend’s innocent reaction. “Ohaiyo,” he whispered into Ryosuke’s ear.
“O-Ohaiyo, Chinen,” Ryosuke murmured back, his thoughts still spinning from the surprise. For some reason, Chinen, amused as he was, thought he could almost feel a slight warmth emanating from Ryosuke’s cheeks as he stammered, but Chinen dismissed the notion, as he was probably just imagining things.
“Mou, I thought you were going to call me ‘Chii-chan’ from now on…” he grinned, poking Ryosuke’s soft cheek, just to test if he really was heating up.
He was.
But knowing this only made Chinen’s heart skip a beat; why would Ryosuke be blushing unless he… he felt shy?
Chinen could hardly imagine his usually self-righteous friend being… shy.
“W-What?!” Ryosuke practically choked on air. “Y-You heard me…?” his eyes widened, and he abruptly turned around to look Chinen straight in the eyes. His gaze was desperate, as if praying for Chinen to say no.
“Maybe?” Chinen smiled sheepishly. He didn’t want to lie, but he didn’t want to lose his chance to taunt his rarely-ever-shy friend either. He didn’t want to forfeit the priceless opportunity.
Upon hearing Chinen’s vague, but telling, answer, Ryosuke’s shoulders slumped as he let out a sad groan, shutting his eyes.
“Then you were awake when I…” Ryosuke’s words trailed off soundlessly. He couldn’t bring himself to finish his sentence; he was too embarrassed. “Chinen, I’m sorry… again…” Ryosuke buried his face in his hands just like he had done yesterday. “I don’t know what came over me… I just… saw you… sleeping so close to me… and I just… I lost control…” He shook his head miserably, while his expression remained concealed behind the palms of his hands. “I know I shouldn’t have… and I know you probably just think I’m the strangest person-”
“Daijoubu,” Chinen interrupted, smiling gently as he bent down beside Ryosuke’s hands and gently lifted away the fingers that had been hiding his face. “I forgive you,” he murmured softly.
“Hontou?” Ryosuke’s turned his gaze to meet Chinen’s, gratefulness shining in his brown eyes.
Chinen nodded. “Of course… Ryo-chan,” he grinned.
Ryosuke laughed lightly. “You’re not really going to call me that, are you?”
“Why not?” Chinen pouted. “I like it,” he insisted.
“If that’s what you want then…” Ryosuke shrugged, unable to resist a soft smile himself. “Ne Chii-chan, you weren’t awake earlier this morning, though, were you?” he asked quietly.
“No… when I woke up, you were already gone. That’s why I came looking for you,” Chinen explained. “Why? Did something happen while I was asleep?” he asked worriedly.
“Nope,” Ryosuke replied indifferently. “I was just wondering,” he shrugged again.
Chinen raised an eyebrow suspiciously, but chose not to question it. Sometimes, there are some things that you’re just better off not knowing…
~~
In fact, in the morning, when Ryosuke had woken up, the sun had only just began its ascent into the dawn, but even though it was still early, he knew he wouldn’t be able to get any more sleep. After all, it had been hard enough for him to fall asleep when Chinen was hugging him in bed in the dark, but when light began to peek in through the blinds, he knew it would be even harder to fall back asleep when he could see Chinen hugging him in bed, not in the dark.
Peering over at the young boy sleeping soundly beside him, Ryosuke couldn’t help but smile. Chinen’s long eyelashes, fluttering lightly in his sleep, his arms still refusing to let go of Ryosuke’s waist, his dark black hair just perfectly tousled from the night, his lips just parted slightly… Ryosuke’s thoughts always came back to his lips. Chinen’s lips. So beautifully pink, plump, soft, and even sweet, as Ryosuke remembered.
He had already claimed Chinen’s lips once before, but he still craved so much more. The luring desires drew him in closer, ever closer, to Chinen. Until their breaths collided, the blissful touch less than a mere centimeter away. Ryosuke placed one hand gently on Chinen’s waist, the other gently caressing his friend’s soft cheek. He parted his lips, closed his eyes, tiled his head ever so slightly… but he never leaned in. He could never, not without Chinen’s consent. It would wrong for him to steal his kiss so secretly.
Smiling sadly, he fought off his longings, and instead touched his forehead to Chinen’s to simply match his breathing with his friend’s. For a peaceful moment, they remained just like that, their bodies so close, Ryosuke’s heart pounding heavily in the quiet morning. Before he finally pulled apart, he placed a gentle kiss on Chinen’s cheek, claiming yet another part of the younger boy’s body.
Taking a deep breath, Ryosuke cleared all the yearnings and desires from his mind, quietly got out of bed, and stepped out of the room, attempting to distance himself from Chinen as much as possible.
Walking down the hall, he paused for a second, thinking of what he had almost done. The feeling of Chinen’s body in his arms, Chinen’s breath gently brushing his lips, his cheek fondled in Ryosuke’s hand.
It was too much.
It was decided; Chinen was torturing him.
Ryosuke ran to the dining table and collapsed in the closest chair he saw.
There’s no way any normal friend would have this effect on me… Ryosuke shuddered. Why can Chinen do this to me? Why can he make me feel so… shy? I’m nervous to be around him, but when I leave, I can’t stop thinking about him. The softness of his lips, why do I long to experience it more and more? His lips… his kiss…
Ryosuke shook his head. No, this is Chinen I’m talking about here. Chinen, who always yells at me whenever I try to do anything for him. Chinen, who I haven’t called “Chii-chan” since we were kids. Chinen, who used to always stay by my side whenever I felt lonely. Chinen, who hugged me in his sleep and kissed me by accident the day before.
Chinen, who can’t seem to leave my mind….
“Chinen…” Ryosuke whispered softly, bringing his hands up onto the table, studying them as if he were examining them for injuries. Your cheek, on my hand… Your arms, around my waist… Your lips, on my own… He lifted a quivering finger to his lips, tracing the outline of Chinen’s kiss.
Why… why can’t I get you off my mind?
