Title: proving my love
Author: Annie
Pairing: Juri x Taiga
Genre: Fluff, Romance
Rating: PG
Summary: When so much happens in one day, Taiga can only guess what Juri will do next. Somewhat along the lines of 5 times Juri made Taiga’s heart go dokidoki, but also 4 different ways to tell your crush to shut up before you finally manage to kiss.
A/N: It doesn't feel like it's been two months since I've posted... but time flies when you're under stress, I suppose.. xD Well, now that my exams are over (not really sure how well they went....) and summer break is here for me, I will start writing again! YAY :D I'm not really sure how many Taiga/Juri pairing fans there are out there, but I am definitely one of them ^_^ Watching Shiritsu Bakaleya Koukou was definitely my biggest break during studying, and it was an amazing drama for the high-rising juniors to start off on. I really hope Bakaleya6 will debut together in the future! (but maybe much later in the future.... xD)
Part Two: 泣かないで (Don’t Cry)
“Ne ne, Juri, guess who?” They were taking a break in the middle of practice later that afternoon, and a pair of warm hands had suddenly covered over his eyes from behind, while an ever-familiar voice rang in his ears.
Juri smiled, knowing Taiga was there. But deciding to play along, he pretended not to know. “I wonder who it could be…” he pondered aloud, earning a soft giggle from his friend.
“You don’t know? You can’t tell from my voice?” Taiga inquired curiously, with almost a touch of triumph in his tone.
Juri feigned a frown. Of course I can tell from your voice… I can even tell just from your touch… “Tell me, tell me, who are you?” Juri begged playfully.
Taiga smiled. “Well, I’ll tell you this,” he tried answering indirectly. “If I had asked you who I was, you would probably say… I’m your best friend. And we do everything together… I care about you more than anybody else, and I’m your most favorite person in the entire world,” he laughed at his own foolish boasting, clearly imagining Juri saying these exact words.
“Ah! I know, you must be Shintaro!” Juri purposefully guessed incorrectly, getting slightly miffed at Taiga’s immediate assumption of his immodesty.
“Shintaro?” Taiga’s voice lowered abruptly.
Juri stopped laughing.
“You’re not Shintaro?” Juri tested, hoping he wasn’t going too far.
“No! Of course not!” Taiga’s irritation was clearly growing, but suddenly, his voice softened. “How can you still not tell who I am?”
“I…” Juri was at a loss for words. Why did he get so offended all of a sudden? Is he really that bothered by my fake ignorance?
“I thought we were best friends…” Taiga dropped his hands from Juri’s eyes, his voice heavy and his gaze turned downcast.
Taiga…
“I thought… I thought you knew I cared about you. And I thought you cared for me, too…” Taiga paused, his voice cracking with tears.
“Taiga, I-”
“I guess… I was wrong.”
Juri couldn’t take it anymore. He immediately spun around and wrapped his arms around Taiga’s shaking body, not needing to look beforehand to confirm who he was. He knew already, long before, he was just too stupid to admit it.
He hardly ever saw his friend cry. And this one rare time that he did, Juri was the one who caused it.
“I’m sorry, Taiga,” he breathed. “I’m sorry, I promise you, I really did know it was you.”
“J-Juri …” Taiga murmured. His heart pounded against his chest as Juri pulled his body even closer to his own.
Please don’t… don’t cry, Taiga…
“Promise me you’re telling the truth…” Taiga whispered softly as he closed his eyes.
“I promise you, Taiga.”
Juri still couldn’t believe this was happening. “Please don’t cry, Taiga, it was all my fault, I’m so sorry…”
Suddenly, Taiga pushed him away. “Juri…” he smiled shyly. “You’re so silly.”
To be honest, Taiga still couldn’t explain to himself why he had suddenly started to cry, but what was even more surprising, he hadn’t expected his friend to be so overly worried about him. “Don’t you think you’re overreacting just a little?” He laughed lightly, wiping away at his tears as he returned back to his normal self. “I’m not used to you sounding so serious!”
“I was just… worried for you… Are you sure you’re okay?” Juri frowned slightly, concern evident in his eyes.
“Of course,” Taiga nodded, taking a deep breath before smiled proudly at his friend. “I thought I had actually caught you by surprise at first, but then when you couldn’t recognize me even after I started talking… I guess-”
Juri smiled sheepishly, crossing his arms before his chest in playful obduracy. “But you should’ve known I would recognize you right away, only you would think I’d be dummy enough to make such bizarre claims about you that could never be true.”
“Hey, hey, it was reasonable for the most part,” Taiga insisted. “I could totally imagine you saying those things about me,” he laughed.
“But I mean, really, ‘we do everything together’? That’s clearly impossible.” Juri smirked.
Taiga rolled his eyes in annoyance, yet couldn’t help but grin. “Shut up, you jerk.”
