It took me a while to check the show out due to the INSANE hype and the creepy nature of the Brony fandom. I was able to love the show despite all that (mainly because I'm a huge Lauren Faust fan and I think the show does a fabulous job portraying female friendships). But I can totally understand how the hype and the weirdos in the fandom could scare you away.

Personally, I'm surprised that the furry aspect didn't bug you more than the potential pedos in the fandom. The main characters in FiM are all adults, so there aren't nearly as many pedos in the FiM fandom as there are in, say, most anime fandoms (at least in my experience)
