Today I read this really interesting article about the legal realities of DUI cases and how probably most of them are truly unjustified. Also, MADD is officially on my "threat to my rights" list and I no longer sympathize with them, at least with the way they try to get things done. Go ahead, read it. in my job this summer i encounter a ton of people arrested for OWIL and i can say that the people who are pulled over for DUI are often way - WAY - over the limit. Although i am not in MADD, nor do i know a ton about their group, it IS really scary seeing how many people drive very, very drunk and how many people do it time and time again. worse is sitting and watching how many potential juror's families have been injured in some small or very major way by drunk drivers. Almost all of the things the article talks about messing up tests is not what is done in Michigan - you do have to give a PBT to a cop if they pull you over for things like swerving all over the place (as well as roadside testing, including a horizontal gaze/nastigmus test which is remarkably accurate at pinpointing what a person's BAC is), but then you can say you want a blood test or a datamaster (controlled environment) test - which, contrary to what the article says, IS a highly controlled test and accurate test with a specified waiting period that most police ( ... )

Man, I love ya Raf, but why does everything you post have to be so damn depressing.
