There's also a quote in the article by another feminist who talks about when theory becomes ideology and then that ideology is used to censor new theories. It's true on so many levels. Biological essentialism has become an ideology in some areas of feminism (Janice Raymond, Germain Greer, womyn born womyn only spaces).
Also, its pretty sad that though the book was written in the 80s we are still battling the same stuff that Hooks talks about within feminism.
