CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN - EX-SUBMISSIVE
Ever since their confession and getting officially together, they made a silent agreement trashing the Dominant-Submissive contract. The only thing that didn’t change was him staying at Kyuhyun’s crib during weekends. It kind of became a habit to him, also, for Donghae not to notice anything.
Kyuhyun treated him nicer than before, just like how a lover should do. Of course, he reciprocated the action with affection. Plus, their love-making was more amazing than ever.
He finally told his father and mother about it. His Joon-appa just told him to take care and he will beat the hell out of Kyuhyun if he was hurt, being the father he is, while his Vic-umma quietly congratulated him. He knew his mom was disappointed because he did not end up with Jongwoon, and he understands her reaction, but he knew his mom will still support his decisions.
Speaking of Jongwoon, he still doesn’t have the courage to tell the guy his relationship with Kyuhyun. He will tell it to him one day, but not now. He has to tell Ryeowook not to blurt it out to Jongwoon.
He gets out of his and Kyuhyun’s room to look for a bracelet that was given to him by Donghae. It was not in their room and he can’t find it in his bags, either, so he decided to ask Nari if she found it by any chance. He walks to the kitchen, where Nari is usually at, then notices Shindong with the lady he’s looking for talking rather intimately.
He is about to walk away, but Kyuhyun’s driver sees him and immediately moved away from the cook, the pair grinning sheepishly at him. He chuckles awkwardly and scratches his nape in embarrassment for he just disturbed a couple. Since he had stayed in the unit for months, he’ll consider himself blind if he wouldn’t notice the loving stares Shindong and Nari are giving to each other.
“I-It’s okay. I know…” he laughs lightly at the surprised reaction of Shindong. The man must have thought that Kyuhyun told him. To be honest, Kyuhyun did not tell him a single thing about Shindong’s life.
“Oh…” is the only thing Shindong said. Nari giggles beside him.
He’s going to walk away, yet again, to give the couple privacy; however, he noticed a big black trash bag on Shindong’s hand. Maybe the bracelet was accidentally placed there.
“Hyung, what’s in there?”
Shindong glanced at the bag he is holding then smiles at his boss’s lover. “Oh, just some old stuff from your previous room.” He had never used that room, though.
“Can I take a look? Maybe my bracelet’s in there.” He says while walking towards the older male, who willingly handed him the bag and even opened it for him, while Nari excused herself to prepare lunch.
There were used perfume bottles, hair pins, small notebooks, and other girl stuff. He pouts for the bracelet isn’t still there. Then, his attention was caught by a photo. Curious, he picks the photo, his eyebrow arching at the image of the unknown woman who looks like him.
“What made you so special to him?”
It was the question that has been bugging him. He had an idea that she is related to Kyuhyun, yet he didn’t say anything to his boyfriend until now. Just by seeing this picture, even without asking Kyuhyun, his question is already answered.
“Who is she?” he asks while showing the picture to the bodyguard, who visibly paled after seeing the photo.
“You should ask Kyuhyun-ssi about her,” comes the answer of Kyuhyun’s loyal bodyguard. It just confirmed his thought.
Just when Shindong got the trash bag from him, Kyuhyun goes out from their room and hugs him from behind, a wide grin on his face. He was able to hide the photo in his pocket in time. “I have good news!”
He faces his lover and puts his arms around the brunet’s neck. “And what is that? You look so happy and excited.”
Kyuhyun’s grin grows wider. “Ryeowook and Yesung will be in one cooking show,” he narrows his eyes at his boyfriend, who continues talking, “You know, they might get close and…” At last, the younger sees him looking at him weirdly. “What? Can’t I be happy that my brother might get close to his crush?” Kyuhyun is obviously feigning innocence.
Too bad, innocence and Kyuhyun just don’t match.
Rolling his eyes, he walks to the kitchen to help Nari with cooking, knowing that Kyuhyun will not follow him there. Of course, Kyuhyun will be rooting for Ryeowook to get Jongwoon so the latter will stop pursuing him.
He’ll remind himself to ask who the woman is.

“Kyu, here’s your coffee~” he says while placing the tray of coffee and cookies on the side of Kyuhyun’s desk. Younger merely hums, still typing something on his laptop.
They rarely get to see each other lately; with him getting busier with his new position as the editor of the publishing company since the termination of Siwon from his position, and with Kyuhyun being occupied as well since their company’s releasing a new gaming program.
Even now that he’s here for the weekends, his boyfriend still can’t give that much attention to him. The younger was supposed to go to his office this morning if only he didn’t stop him. He’s not being selfish, but he just wants Kyuhyun to take a rest even just for a while for he thinks Kyuhyun was not taking care of himself recently. In days, the younger lost some weight.
He pulls Kyuhyun for the latter to lean on the backrest, which seems to take Kyuhyun by surprise. He gently presses his fingers on either sides of Kyuhyun’s head and massages it. A smile forms on his lips once he saw the brunet close his eyes and heard him moan softly. He is quite proud of his massaging skills.
“Take a rest,” he whispers as he bends over to place a kiss on his lover’s forehead. “Your eyebags, baby.”
Both of them let out a light laugh. It seems they truly miss each other’s company like this. Kyuhyun pulls his arms down, making him hug the former. They bask in each other’s warmth with smiles painted on their contented face.
“By the way, babe,” he still blushes everytime Kyuhyun calls him that. “Eunhyuk-hyung’s birthday is next week. We’ll go to Jeju. You can invite your parents, you know.”
“Really? Sure, that would be fun. I’ll call them later.” He replies while pressing his lips on Kyuhyun’s cheek.
“Yup. Oh, and he’s planning on proposing to Donghae-ssi.”
The last statement made him choke inaudibly. He stares down wide-eyed at his boyfriend, who looks oblivious to his shock. Only when he pulls away from the hug did Kyuhyun notice his reaction. “Why the surprise? They are already taking things too fast from the start, aren’t they?”
“But they’re still young!”
“Nope. They’re already what, 24?”
“23.”
“Whatever. The point is, they’re already at the proper age to get married.” Kyuhyun spins the chair and faces him, a mischievous smirk formed on those thick lips. “So if I ask your hand for marriage this early, you won’t give me your ‘yes’?”
It catches him off-guard. His cheeks heat up as his mind is filled by images of being wedded to the man in front of him. Kyuhyun looking the most dashing in a black tuxedo wearing the biggest smile as he, in a white suit, approaches him at the end of the aisle. His inner god faints.
“I think I know how to spend my break time.” Kyuhyun breaks his creative imagination, and he sees Kyuhyun’s face already inches away from his. He almost had a heart attack.
He hasn’t still recovered from the shock of the news of Eunhyuk’s marriage proposal plan and Kyuhyun’s indirect one when the latter pulls him to their bedroom. It looks like they won’t take a rest, after all.

After the third round had finished, no one was still sleepy. They are exhausted, yet their eyes don’t seem to be so heavy unlike before. Thus, they stay in each other’s arms in silence, waiting for drowsiness to take over them.
However, as what they say, silence makes you think. And there are some things he had somehow forgotten for a while that he remembered all of a sudden.
“Kyu… can I ask you something?”
Kyuhyun looks at him as if trying to read his mind, before his expression turns naughty. “You’re already asking.” That line makes him remember their first meeting. That fateful meeting wherein it was supposed to be Donghae whom Kyuhyun will face, but human nature struck on his best friend and their fates switched.
For a moment, he wonders what would have happened if Donghae didn’t get sick. Will Donghae be Kyuhyun’s new Submissive? Will Donghae be Kyuhyun’s lover? Will Donghae be the one to know Kyuhyun’s past? Will Donghae be the one in Kyuhyun’s arms right now?
Will he still be alone?
Then again, he was the one who became Kyuhyun’s submissive. He is Kyuhyun’s lover, he knows Kyuhyun’s past, he is in Kyuhyun’s arms, and most especially, he is not alone anymore.
But that was not his initial concern. He still has some other things in his mind that he is itching to get answers from Kyuhyun.
He rolls his eyes, pouting a bit after. “I’m serious, Kyu…”
Kyuhyun laughs, shaking his head. The CEO then strokes his cheek before kissing his pouted lips as his way of saying sorry. Kyuhyun is not the type to express his sorry using words. “Fine, fine. What is it?”
Taking a deep breath, he presses his lips together tight. This is it. He’ll just take whatever reaction Kyuhyun would let out after this. He will not complain. He will not demand too much.
“How did you and Zhou Mi get into this Dom-Sub contract?”
Just as what is expected, Kyuhyun sharply gasps and stares at him wide-eyed. To his slight surprise, younger’s lips turn pale and he notices the pair shivering a bit. Judging from the look on Kyuhyun’s eyes, the guy is already thinking of ways on how to avoid the topic.
Minutes have passed and he still hasn’t got any reply from the other. Kyuhyun keeps on avoiding his gaze and the younger’s palm, which is pressed on his back, is sweating and shivering.
Of course, he cannot blame Kyuhyun for it. He just asked something too personal when they aren’t even in a relationship for a month. He’ll just have to zip his mouth and refrain from asking questions.
“You don’t have to ans-”
“Zhou Mi had been doing it long before he met me,” Kyuhyun starts. He suddenly gets nervous. “I was still so miserable back then. I still distance myself away from others, even my family…”
Through his palm, he can feel the rapid beating of Kyuhyun’s heart in sync with the heavy rise and fall of his chest. He, too, probably feels the same way.
“He came to me, saying that he’s attracted to me and all. He seduced me.” He unconsciously holds his breath as he listens to Kyuhyun’s statement.
“Since I was too fragile, I gave in. And that’s when he offered me to be his Submissive. To be honest, I enjoyed,” he squeezes his eyes shut as if it could make him deaf for a while. He thinks he could take it. He thinks he’s brave enough to hear the truth from Kyuhyun himself. He thinks he could accept it. Turns out, he can’t.
He feels so bad that he still can’t accept what happened to Kyuhyun in the past. He said he wants to help, but it feels like he can’t do anything about it.
“And I wanted to try being the dominant one, so-” Kyuhyun must have noticed his discomfort. The brunet holds his hand, which he was unaware that was shivering and was clenched so firmly that it looks like blood in it was drained. “I’m sorry, Min.”
He snaps his head up at Kyuhyun curiously, his doe eyes innocently widening. “Why are you saying sorry?” He asks, his voice a bit hoarse.
Sadness and regret reflect Kyuhyun’s deep gray orbs that stared back at him. Younger pulls him closer by the nape and gently kisses his forehead. The sigh that he was holding back is released, his body relaxing in Kyuhyun’s embrace.
“Let’s just forget about him. I now have you, so why would I look at him?” Kyuhyun inquires with the softest voice he had heard from his lover from the time they met. It sounds so sincere that it makes him guiltier for doubting the other’s feelings for him.
“B-But… y-you did… l-love him… right?” At the back of his mind, he doesn’t want to hear the answer he expects Kyuhyun to give him.
Kyuhyun lets out a heavy sigh and looks at the ceiling as he rakes his fingers through his hair, staying silent for a minute. The short silence tortures him.
“Yes.”
Okay that hurts. But he asked for it. He knew that was going to be Kyuhyun’s answer, anyways. He is not aware of the tears that gather on his eyes until Kyuhyun pulled away from the hug and shifted to his side to face him. Long slender fingers stroke his tear-stained cheeks and he can’t help but close his eyes and lean to the touch.
“But it’s you who I love now.”
He bursts into tears at the confession. He had never thought he would get to hear one of those cheesy TV drama lines from his lover.
“I love you, Kyuhyun… God you don’t know how much I love you.” He mumbles while still weeping, holding on Kyuhyun’s wrists.
Kyuhyun smiles and pulls him for a passionate kiss, which he returns wholeheartedly. They don’t need too many words to express their feelings. The CEO’s actions are enough for him to believe Kyuhyun… that’s he the one the man loves now, not Zhou Mi.

He’s now hurriedly preparing his things so he could go home. His phone’s battery is nearly empty, and Kyuhyun might call him any minute now.
His mind and body are exhausted due to today’s works, and he couldn’t wait for Kyuhyun to call him before they go to sleep. Apparently, they agreed not to call each other during work since his boyfriend being the new owner of the company is still a secret. So, they could only communicate through text, while they call each other after work during weekdays.
They just saw each other this morning, yet he is already missing the maknae. It is an alien feeling, but it surely isn’t that bad.
Just as he is making his way to his car, his phone rings. Thinking it is Kyuhyun, he excitedly pulls his phone out and presses it on his ear, a wide grin on his face.
“Hello?” He suppresses a giggle to hide his excitement.
“Hello, Sungmin-hyung?” But he hears a different voice. He frowns as he checks the screen, and he is slightly disappointed that it is Henry.
“Henli!” Still, he tries not to sound as upset as he is right now. “What’s up?” He opens the car door and gets in, placing his bag on the passenger seat beside him.
“I’m here at your apartment. Are you going home now? Hae-hyung is coming home late, and I don’t have the key~” he hears Henry whine from the other line. He starts the engine as he raised a shoulder and craned his neck to the side to support the phone whilst he held the steering wheel.
“Yes, I am. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
“Okay, hyung, I’ll be-”
A crease forms on his forehead after his call with Henry was cut. A string of curse escapes his lips as he places his phone on the seat next to him. He has to go home fast for his battery just turned zero. He steps on the accelerator.
Less than ten minutes and he already reached the apartment. He quickly parks the car and grabs his bag and phone before getting out of the car.
Thinking that Henry might be waiting in front of their unit, he runs inside and heads straight to their floor. However, when he stepped out of the elevator car, he sees his unit’s door open, with the lights also on.
He arches an eyebrow, mumbling to himself, “I thought Donghae is coming late?” But he then shrugs off the thought and walks towards the room.
“Donghae? Henli? Are you guys here? Why didn’t you close the do-”
“You came home so late, Sungmin-ssi.” The woman on the picture he found a week ago appears from the kitchen area, her appearance almost the same as the last time he saw her. She still has that messy blond hair, her short black dress is not ironed, and there are still dark circles under her eyes.
She still looks unpleasant, but she still looks like him. He almost palmed his forehead once he remembers he should have asked Kyuhyun who she is.
Then again, he doesn’t have to ask Kyuhyun anymore. He could get the answers he wants from this person herself.
“Who are you?”
He lets go of his bag and puts his phone in his pocket as the petite lady takes few steps forward. He’s not scared of her. Hell, he can beat the hell out of her right now but she’s still a girl.
“I’m Sunny.” She answers in a low raspy voice.
Sunny. So that’s her name. How ironic; her name is the opposite of how she looks right now. Do all of Kyuhyun’s previous submissives turn out this way? Will the others go after him as well now that he and Kyuhyun are official?
Something clicks in his mind.
“Where is Henry? Donghae? How did you get in here?”
Much to his surprise, however, Sunny brings out a gun from behind her and points it at him while slowly walking towards him. His eyes widened, he holds out his hands in front of his chest and eyes the lady cautiously.
“Get in.” Sunny commands, gesturing for him to go inside the room. He immediately obliges. He walks inside the unit while maintaining his distance from Sunny. He has to think of a way to unarm the woman. But for now, he has to lure her that he is under her control.
“Are you and Kyuhyun now together?” Rage and jealousy are obvious on her tone. She throws him dagger glares while she is still holding the gun towards him. She walks in front of the opened door, obviously so he couldn’t escape in case he planned to. Too bad for her, he has no plan of escaping.
When he did not answer, it angers Sunny more. “Kyuhyun is mine! Do you understand that? He’s mine! We’re almost getting married!” He controls the urge to roll his eyes.
He carefully roams his eyes around the place in search for a sign of Donghae or Henry, but thankfully, there was none. It looks like Henry waited for him at another place. That’s when he noticed that the doorknob was broken. This woman’s worse than a sasaeng.
Because he is now more confident, he faces the woman with an unfazed expression. He stretches both arms in front of him. “Sunny-ssi, please calm down. Let’s talk things properly…”
“No! You took Kyuhyun away from me!”
He takes steps backwards as he hears a clicking sound from the gun Sunny is holding. He was supposed to calm her down, not fuming her more. He can’t talk to her like this. Not when she is holding a gun. Not when she is not in her right mind.
“Sunny-ssi…”
A bulky man appears behind Sunny and hits her nape, causing for her to lose consciousness. Shindong catches her on time as Kyuhyun runs to him, immediately taking him in his arms.
“Why didn’t you answer my calls?! You should have called me or just texted me! God, I was so worried!” Kyuhyun pulls away and showers his face kisses while reciting his endless litany. He is not able to stop his smile while listening to his cute boyfriend who suddenly talked a lot. As far as he knows, he should be the talkative one in the relationship.
“Are you okay? And why are you smiling, mister? Your life was in danger!”
He shakes his head and hugs the taller man instead. Actually, he can handle Sunny by himself. In fact, he already knows how to unarm her. But as cheesy as it may seem, he’s happy that his prince came to rescue him. Too much literature in his mind caused him to think this way.
“Sungmin? Kyuhyun-ssi? What happened here?!” they hear Donghae shriek.
Both of them laugh at Donghae and Henry’s reaction. Henry looks cutely oblivious to everything, while Donghae looks like a fuming ahjumma who had her kitchen raided. Only that Donghae isn’t an ahjumma and he definitely doesn’t cook because Sungmin actually owns the kitchen.
Sunny and Shindong aren’t there anymore, so the bodyguard must have brought the woman to the car. He’s sure that Donghae and Henry have seen them while on their way here.
“Are you okay, Min?” Donghae rushes to him, pushing Kyuhyun away. He giggles as he watches Kyuhyun’s face turn red in anger when Donghae cups his cheeks and checks his body for wounds and bruises. “Were you hurt? I saw a gun in the bodyguard’s hand! Did that lunatic hurt you? Cos I swear even if she’s a girl I will kill her.”
He forgets his amusement because of his best friend’s concern. He likes it whenever Donghae turns this way. It’s like they exchanged roles; Donghae is now the hyung, while he’s the younger one who always did something stupid.
“I’m okay, Hae. Thank you.” He says before hugging the slightly taller man. He mouths Henry an ‘are you okay’ to which the younger boy replied with a thumbs up.
After checking that everything’s in place, including the doorknob getting fixed, and convincing Donghae and Henry to stay at Eunhyuk’s flat for the night, he and Kyuhyun head to his car; Kyuhyun told Shindong to immediately bring Sunny to somewhere and that they’re going to use his car instead to go back.
“Are you going to talk to Sunny?” he asks while staring at the night view of the quiet residential streets of Busan.
Kyuhyun, who did not tear his gaze off the road, replies calmly. “Yeah. You could go there with me.”
He sighs softly. “I’d rather not.” He then shifts to look at Kyuhyun, placing a hand atop the latter’s hand. “Thank you for coming there.”
Kyuhyun glances at him, smiling. “I’m glad you’re safe.” The brunet holds his hand and brings it up to his lips. His heart did flip flops at that intimate action. He could hear his inner god dramatically singing.
“I love you.”
Kyuhyun’s smile widens. “I love you, too…”
“…but please don’t forget to have your cellphone charged before you go out?”
