Science vs Liberal arts

I am indeed a bit egotistical when it comes to hard science majors vs "soft" science majors. I replied to a friend about it the other day, and decided to post it below. I don't go into all the gory details of what it means to be in an Engineering major, but i don't think its necessary given the context ( Read more... )

I was not offended, I like to tease.

I expecially like your outstanding use of the percentage sign.

And I can agree that at least here at UC Davis there are toooooo many classes taught with political aim. What I don't like is when enginneers or biologists think that their field is the only thing worth anything of value. I think just like Nintendo, people need to know their roots.

I may be an egotist for believing that all majors come from Philosophy and all majors need to represent.

Try taking a cognitive science class, too. Pretty intense for a "soft" class.

I originally wrote that for a friend who sent me a message on facebook, but after seeing your post decided to just post it here so i can just point to it when folks ask.

Did you just reference Nintendo when making an analogy? Sweet. With all your good taste, you officially get friend status even though i've never met you.

If it makes you feel any better, in my research for a professor i had to use 50 year old papers that referenced ancient greek philosophy in order to get temporal logic for a program worked out.

Cat, if you're reading this, i'm grossly envious you got a 5 hour private session with the Wii. I'm forever jealous of your wii. : P
