This is absolutely revolting

This article infuriated me so much, I just want to start screaming at the idiot who wrote it. This poor teenage girl is depressed and cutting because she STILL BELIEVES in love, in family, but her own family is rejecting her. Her sexual orientation is not a choice, but instead of getting love and support, her parents are telling their right-wing ( Read more... )

So because her school had a program about gays (I don't know of any primary or secondary schools that do this, but I guess it happened if they say it happened), she became gay? My high school had a Cinco de Mayo celebration, and it didn't turn me into a Mexican.

If this girl's "coming out" was truly an act of confusion and rebellion, it only strengthens the argument for why we need sex ed in school. If your kid falsly concludes that she's gay because of something she learned at school, then it's your fault for not teaching her enough about sex for her to be knowledgable and confident about sexuality.

Whether or not she is truly a homosexual, she obviously feels very alienated, and THAT is why she's depressed. How can you just turn your back on your kid like that? My child would have to do something pretty damn awful for me to reject him or her.

It's hard to believe that the parents were so perfect in the first place if they were going to abandon their daughter, who by all accounts seems to be a nice girl, because of her sexuality. I'll try and email when I can gather my thoughts coherently.

The same stupid rhetoric again and again. I think I'll buy one of those "God made
me gay" shirts. *fume*
