A ponderance of ponderings

I've been working on things, but after several weeks of being the sickest I can ever remember being (and still needing to drag myself to work) I feel completely discombobulated and like I'm so far behind.

I'm trying to get back on track with cooking. I was really looking forward to culinary  night this month, but it hit right after the death plague ( Read more... )

For spacing/layout purposes you can probably get away with using Book Antiqua or Footlight MT (check them ou in both bold and plain text for affect) - I usually work on figuring how many single letters/spaces there are per line (as an "average" because this changes line to line)and how many lines per "text" page and then subtract for capitals and decorative areas. That gets me in the ball park for how much text I can have or not have.

The hard part is getting the width of the pen nib to match up with the scale you are using for the text especially if you are trying to stay on the same scale as your exemplar.

When you go to make the exemplar to the calligraphy hand see how it differs from your font (and you are most likely to have huge differences between capital fonts and calligrapy capital.
