Late is as late does ...

For complicated reasons I won't go into here, I've only just seen the Pirates of the Caribbean series for the first time. And, as happens sometimes, I'm totally besotted. Hunting for fic for such an old canon is never easy, though, so I thought I'd ask here as well as trolling archives and whichever remotely relevant tags I can find at Delicious ( Read more... )

erm, and I have spoilery Elizabeth fic: http://lyssie.livejournal.com/1058273.html

I think there are some Elizabeth/Will entries on the porn battles over the years, too.

I know doc_3 is into Pirates, so you might want to look for recs at her LJ... though iirc she's more into Elizabeth/Jack.

I love those films. Deliciously swashbuckling! :)

You're right. doc_3 is all about the Elizabeth/Jack. Thanks for trying, though.

And while I'd love to say my fascination with the films is all about the swashbuckling pirates, it's only partially true. It's the romance that's got me by the throat. Usually is. I'm predictable that way. :)

LOL, I didn't read this comment until I already posted a comment recommending some J/E fics!

I will say that some of these authors may write both? Or have faves that are W/E, so you can try to connect to some W/E that way.

There are also some Will/Jack/Elizabeth fics out there ...

I'll definitely check out the authors. Generally speaking, if they write one pairing well, they'll do the same with others, if they're of a mind to make the attempt.

I've noticed, actually, that Will/Jack/Elizabeth is quite popular. In fact my early forays into the fic archives seem to indicate that the canon ship seems to be one of the less popular pairings in the fandom. Fancy that.

PS.

If you want to write, go for it! You'd enjoy it, that would be the point!

I've pretty much decided the same thing, if only to get the bug out of my system. Don't know if I'll bother posting it or not, but at least I can get the plot bunnies to stop chewing on my ankles, right?

I second this. Always get those plot bunnies out there, even just for yourself. (Not that I've ever taken my own advice ...)

Hah. May not be able to help it. Plot bunnies are stubborn little things.

I'll have a look. If the writing's as good as you say it is they'll probably suck me in even though the ship isn't my favorite.

Taste does change, doesn't it. I find I'm less discriminating in that bright first rush of fannish obsession, and then by the end, can barely find anything that meets my ridiculously stringent requirements.

" I find I'm less discriminating in that bright first rush of fannish obsession, and then by the end, can barely find anything that meets my ridiculously stringent requirements."

That is exactly what happens to me every time I discover a new fandom. I get to the point where I will only read certain authors, certain types of fic, etc., and it really decreases the amount of fic out there for me to read :)

It definitely does that. Frustrating, isn't it.
