Bones 9.06

I was wary going into this. TPTB haven't been trustworthy for a long time when it comes to characterization, especially for Brennan, and I've wished repeatedly that somebody would please, please, point to early seasons Brennan and say, "See? See? That's who she is. That's how you write her character!" With few exceptions, last season was horrible ( Read more... )

I did enjoy this episode- it was nice. (Damning with faint praise). It was nice to see all of the characters, particularly Max, Gramps, and Parker, but I don't like Booth's Mom- I just can't.

I did like the vows- really liked them. It was one of the few moments that really touched me.

And I agree about Brennan's character - I repeatedly have yelled at the screen- why? why are you making her like this? She was interesting, and fun, before! She might have been socially awkward, but she is NOT stupid!

On another note, I do like how Castle has been handling things this year. They seem to be able to change the relationship without making the characters awful.

Hope all is well with you and yours- and that your deck is ok! lol!

Do you, like me, long for the days when we looked forward to new episodes with so much anticipation and excitement we could hardly stand it? I miss those days. Those were good days.

I'm rather behind on my Castle viewing, but I did enjoy the couple of episodes I've seen. Castle's writers are much more laid back about dealing with the change in Castle and Beckett's relationship than HH and company ever were, and I really like that. It feels so much more natural and less forced.

My deck is fine, thank you, though the front of my house looked utterly ridiculous, all draped in tarps during that ever-so-rainy week. My timing is awful, I tell you. I've painting to do this weekend, railings this time. Wanna bet it snows or something? It'd be my luck, I think.

Oh I do long for those days! When Stargate and early JAG was on, I couldn't wait for the eps. I always thought something great was going to happen.

Castle recently had a time travel episode - lol - it was hilarious! Make sure you see that one!

Good luck on the painting!

On a totally different note - Do you watch Supernatural? it's about 9 or 10 seasons in, but really really interesting. Nobody to ship (unless you are in to brothers slash, which I am not-lol). I think you would like this show, it's about 2 brothers who are "hunters"- basically they go around killing evil things. It's over the top, sad, and funny. But if you start out now, you will not get alot of stuff. I got caught a few episodes into Season 8, but now I'm watching from the beginning.

Anyway, thought I'd ask!

I think I've watched all of about 20 minutes of one episode of SPN. I got a very strong horror show vibe off of it at the time, and that just isn't my thing. Also, it's two male leads, and I do rather prefer mixed-gender shows. That said, I might give the show another try if you think it's worth it.

SPN is definitely horror...but although the arc episodes tend to be serious, there are LOTS of funny episodes, where the B-movie, C-movie, Roger-Corman-movie, and children's-scary-campfire-story roots show through even more fully. THOSE eps? Totally worth it for the LOLZ. You have to have a high gore-tolerance (which I do), and I Do Not Care to watch the entire show...but I've seen easily 1/3 of it for the funny eps.

Their Groundhog Day ep? Serious and yet hilarious.

The one where they go to the SPN Convention for the SPN books that a prophet wrote? It'll make you wheeze.

The one where they think something hinky is going on in a mental institution and get themselves checked in by telling the truth? Just...well, watch this, really.

The ep where they fall through a dimensional portal into OUR universe...where they're actors ("What's a 'Padelecki'?") on a show called Supernatural but the supernatural isn't real? A delight.

The episode where they kept getting shuffled through different genres of TV show (cheesy late-70s sitcom... )

Well, it is a horror show of a sort- which really is not my thing normally. It really is a little campy and over the top, but I find the relationship between the brothers to be fascinating.

It may not be your thing, but it's one show I look forward to seeing- which these days is a rarity!
