I came across this interesting little article, about a bunch of women who went in together to purchase a diamond necklace:

I've heard about this book, it sounds like a great story. I was surprised by the hostility as well. Some people don't realize what a great thing it is to do something for yourself, to benefit yourself.

When I took a psychology class in college, the big assignment was to do something to change your life. I embarked on a quest to up my self esteem. I wonder if I had it chronicled in a book like these ladies, if people would call me selfish too.

Actually, that is a genius investment. As world currency devalues as result of the recession, what was a 1500 investment in a diamond necklace might go up to 2000 or more. If someone buys you out of your share, you earn money. And since it's a precious stone, it's not likely to lose value over the years.
