And then almost exactly 12 months into living here, I really got over it. It was like the end of an experiment. Yes, I moved here. I found a place to live, I found a job, I found a community. If you want a place to escape to next, it's practically impossible not to get a free trip to Israel for us American jews. Check it out.

Yes, but the idea of sitting on a bus with a bunch of Jewish college students sounds HORRIBLE. I can't even begin to describe how cranky I would be without being able to work out, drink my green tea when I want to drink it and have to listen to people think about what they should major in. And then no one would like me and I would have ruined the trip for all those young, bright, hopeful scholars.

But maybe I will look into it. I mean, free is free, right? Do you think they'd let Baxter come? He's Jewish and under 26

You wouldn't go with college students, you'd go on a program with people your own age. There are HUNDREDS of different birthright programs. Seriously, there is something for everyone. I cannot tell you enough how much I recommend you look into it.

that was a fascinating reflection on change and new places.

i'm struggling with being in a new place too. it's not home. i like it a lot, but when does it become home? the sun goes down at 9:30 in late june! it's bizarre.

yesterday it was 103 degrees in mac. in the shade. OMG that is hot.

new place = OREGON! portland calls to you! can't you hear it?

Seriously, Katie, I look for flights to Portland almost every day. Reading your blog and seeing the pictures make me envious in a way I've never felt before. It's so opposite everything that I do every day. I WILL be escaping NY to come weed and harvest-I'm thinking in September, because right now tickets are HELLA expensive!!
