Minor Complaints

Apr 06, 2010 00:02

This entire damn semester, I've been constantly cold (even though it's now hitting mid-70s every day), constantly hungry, and constantly tired. I get the tired one--I don't sleep enough/well. Fine. But the constantly hungry? Dude, I eat a ton. And yet, inevitably I will be hungry an hour after every meal. It's kind of frustrating ( Read more... )

what do you eat? I used to have that problem, and it's been less severe since I gave up white flour and stuff like that. I'm sure you've heard it all before, though...

I eat whatever's in the dining hall that looks like it won't kill me--so usually a lot of pasta (or rice, depending on which hall I'm in). But this still happens even when I eat outside the dining halls, like Thai or Greek food...so I dunno. =/

I can understand why you don't sleep much, but the sleep you get isn't restful in and of itself? Have you always been a light sleeper?

So you eat alot but your weight is staying right where it is? If I remember your past entries correctly, you workout like a mofo. Swing dance, self defense classes(well, I don't know if you still take them or not, but you practice even if you're finished I thought), and general aerobics/gym stuff, right? I've been strength training with some mild cardio for the last few months and I tend to have more of an appetite than before, yet my weekly time logged probably pales in comparison to yours.

I suppose if you were gorging on really bad stuff you'd be gaining weight, but that's true of anyone in any situation or workout routine. If you're downing lots of food but staying relatively muscular, perhaps you're ok? Then again, you've said 10 pounds of yours are extra, and this appetite issue has just come up this semester. Unless you've added hours to your exercise routines, this does still seem unusual.

The sleep seems fairly restful...but I dunno, maybe it isn't for some reason? I'm not sure. I just know I need more hours of it.

Honestly, I don't work out nearly as much as I used to. My class/work schedule this semester forced me to drop self-defense, and I only get to go dancing once a month nowadays. :/ My research job eats all my spare time, which isn't terribly bad because I enjoy it, but I miss swing.

Also, the appetite issue's kinda weird. Last year this time it was "I don't wanna eat", but now it's "OM NOM NOM SO HUNGRY." I think my body wants to confuse me...

I wonder if your metabolism randomly sped up, or...something. Amber(remember her?) got way too skinny for about a year back in '06ish, whilst her eating habits remained the same. 4 years later, with the same eating habits, she's returned to a normal, healthy weight. She felt her metabolism had for whatever reason sped up, although her appetite didn't change like yours. But, well, she isn't a med student and neither am I, so I've no idea how much credence the theory has.

On a slightly unrelated note, I have such a (I'm sure inaccurate) view of you as an ultra serious person, you typing things like "OM NOM NOM SO HUNGRY" makes me laugh when it wouldn't from other people.

Hm, I certainly wouldn't complain if my metabolism sped up, but I think I'd be cold less often if it had. Who knows? The body is weird.

Also, I'm actually a rather silly person when being talked to in real time! I come complete with an array of very silly noises and faces.
