As I halfway knew it would, registering for a class at Harvard's extension school involved retrieving information from whatever sort of records were created back in 2004 when I was dithering job-wise and bored enough to take a grad school class for fun. classes are fun and they look great on your "permanent record". but at this point in your life they are (should be?) redundant. grade school is all about teaching you that you can learn. high school should be about teaching you that there is no limit to what you can learn. college is about showing you the vast scope of knowledge out there. but more importantly, that you can and how you can teach yourself. grad school is about focusing that learning towards your ambitions. after that you shouldn't need anything but a good book and ambition.

you can do and be anything. I am confident in that.

I tried the autodidact route with PHP back when I worked in a LAMP shop, with a book and some advice from a friend - it was fun, but I'm also not great at follow-through, and could use the discipline of a structured course and a grade that 'counts.'

The vote of confidence is much appreciated, though!
