She sighed. How had it all gone wrong? All the time, the money spent, it had all gone to waste. They had been rehearsing for almost two months now, countless hours had been spent reciting the lines, conveying the emotion, learning the stunts. Then, all of a sudden, when they finally had their set set-up at the desired location, the cameras ready to roll and the director ready to direct, the main male lead had to drop out. Trouble with the law, the overdue visa, passport renewal, it were the same excuses for every foreign actor. Now the director and producer were hastily looking for a replacement. How were they to find the perfect guy to take up the job? How was this new male lead going to be able to learn the scripts and stunts in a short period of time? Not to mention, was this man's performance ever going to par to that of the previous one? Jaejun fought down a sigh that wished to escape her lips.
“Good news everyone!” The director burst into the room that was currently filled with the rest of the cast and their stylists, “We have found someone to play Hyo's role.”
At this, almost everyone perked up, all eager to find out about the new cast member.
“He is going to be arriving here next week for the shoots, I hope you all will give him a warm welcome,” the director, Hyunki-shii, announced. Many of the cast members gave their director a congratulatory remark as they soon busied themselves by starting to speculate what kind of person would the new male lead would be.
Before anyone could ask Hyunki another question about the new cast member, the director made his way to the chair on which his female lead was perched upon. His smile drooped to form a frown as he saw the sullen actress sulking at the corner.
“Jaejun...” he called as he watched the beautiful actress raise her head to meet his gaze, “I hope you are happy with the news,” he said, sincerely wishing that the actress would find the situation better now. He knew how much hard work the woman had put into her work; sleepless nights, traveling, juggling home affairs and work. He knew it all. That's why, he wanted to find a replacement as soon as possible, afraid that the actress would also quit her work, thinking that all her efforts have been put to waste.
“Who is this new male lead, anyway?” Jaejun asked, merely showing casual interest in the subject.
“A dashing young man. I've heard that the guy is flexible enough to adjust to the situation as soon as possible. He says that he wouldn't have much problems catching up,” Hyunki replied.
“What would his name be?” Jaejun continued to question, if this guy was as good as Hyunki described him to be then he must be some well-known talented actor right?
“Jung Yunho.” Hyunki replied confidently. 'Jung Yunho' Jaejun thought in her mind, rolling the name on her tongue. However nothing clicked. She was supposedly one of the top-earning actresses in all of Korea, she most knew all of the other senior, well-known actors and actresses. If this Yunho guy was a professionally famous actor, she would have known him.
“Jung Yunho? Who is that?” Jaejun voiced out her doubts. She saw a glimpse of the director's smile falling and his confidence deflating.
“Yunho has worked in many films before but was never casted as a main actor, always played the minor side-roles but don't let this information mislead you, he really is a good actor,” Hyunki assured, giving Jaejun a tight smile. Jaejun weakly smiled back in return, shrugging a little before heaving herself up to her feet, wanting to fetch some water for herself.
She was left unconvinced.
