Fic: When the door bell rung 1/1

Jul 18, 2010 19:29

The moment the doorbell rung, tiny footsteps could be heard thumping against the wooden floor. A small chubby boy ran to the front door and tried to reach for the door knob in a vain attempt. Lighter yet bigger footsteps followed his as the other male smiled at his son and opened the door instead.

“Hi~!” A sight of a smiley 4 year old boy greeted them. Crescent-shaped laughing eyes, a cute nose and a cherubic smile, the boy holding a container could melt anyone’s heart.

“Hello,” Jaejoong, the older male, greeted back while returning his own smile. “How can I help you?”

“We need some flour!” the boy exclaimed holding out his container towards Jaejoong. Junsu, the young chubby boy, startled at the new comer’s appearance and overly-cheery voice quickly hid behind his papa, Jaejoong’s, legs.

Before Jaejoong could invite the boy in or at least ask what his name was. Another unfamiliar voice interrupted them.

“Ah, I’m so sorry for troubling you.” A young dashing man in his mid twenties strode over. “It’s nice to meet you, I’m Jung Yunho.”

Yunho clasped his hand with Jaejoong’s.

“Hi, I’m Kim Jaejoong.” Jaejoong introduced himself. “He’s your son, I suppose?” Jaejoong asked as he motioned towards the boy holding the container.

Yunho nodded as he stood behind his son. “Yoochun, say hello!” Yoochun merely smiled and waved his hand at Jaejoong and Junsu.

“We just moved in across the street” Yunho mentioned, pointing towards the lovely terrace house across. “I was hoping I could get some flour… and some information about the town.”

Jaejoong smiled. “Of course, do…do come in!”

--

“…and the supermarket is down the lane on the right.” Jaejoong explained, drawing a little map on a piece of paper before handing it to Yunho.

“Alright, thanks so much for the flour,” Yunho said shaking the container of flour, “and the map!”

“No problem at all.” Jaejoong said he led the two of them away from the dinning room towards the front door.

“I guess I could pay the restaurant a visit and get Yoochun and I something to eat.” Yunho said. “I’ve yet to trust my cooking skills.”

“Yunho-shii, then why not have dinner here instead?” Jaejoong insisted, looking over at the two young boys who were racing toy cars.

“I wouldn’t want to impose.” Yunho let out a shy laugh.

“I insist.”

And this was yet another beginning…

--

“We went our separate ways after a year of marriage,” Yunho explained as Jaejoong and he sat on the bench overlooking the park. “She left Yoochun with me; he was a barely a few months old then.”

The two watched as Junsu fall into a heap of sand and Yoochun chuckling while helping his friend up.

“My husband walked out on me after 2 years of marriage. He had found another.” Jaejoong confessed. “He didn’t even know that he had a son.”

Yunho wrapped a comforting arm around Jaejoong’s shoulder.  Jaejoong replied with silent thank you by putting his head on Yunho’s shoulder. The two snuggled up with each other.

--

“Thanks so much for helping out.” Yunho said as Jaejoong put the food into different containers. Yoochun had officially turned 4 and Jaejoong had offered to cook the snacks for his party.

“No problem at all.” Jaejoong replied with a smile adorning his beautiful face.  Yunho leant over and pecked his little nose.

“Come on, you don’t want to miss your own son’s party!” Jaejoong dragged Yunho over the lawn where the kids from Yoochun’s and Junsu’s school were playing.

Later that evening when the guests had left, Yoochun and Junsu tucked into bed, Jaejoong and Yunho swayed slowly under the moonlight. Jaejoong was safely cocooned in Yunho’s arms, protected from the evening chill.

“I love you, Jaejoong.” Yunho’s warm breath blew into his ear. “Will you marry me?”

--

Junsu looked absolutely huggable in a mini-tuxedo. Although the two year old did not know what was going on but the happy aura surrounding everyone got him really excited. He jumped up and down while holding Yoochun’s hand, who looked equally adorable in his tux as well.

“We are going to be brothers now, Junsu!” Yoochun exclaimed.

“Really?” the innocent boy asked, his eyes becoming bigger.

“Yes!” Yoochun confirmed. Junsu got even more excited and jumped on Yoochun, hugging him tightly.

“Are the kids ready?” a frantic voice asked from the door. A very stunning and anxious looking Jaejoong quickly paced over to the two young boys.

He knelt in front of the two boys and cradled them into his arms. “Ducky!” he dropped an affectionate kiss atop of Junsu’s head. “Micky!” another on Yoochun’s head.

“Gosh, Heechul-hyung! You can’t even dress the boys up!” Jaejoong scolded his older brother, who merely rolled his eyes at him.

He quickly fixed Junsu bow tie and combed Yoochun’s hair. “Alright, be good boys and don’t trouble Uncle Heechul, alright?” Getting two nods in return, Jaejoong stood up and went to his brother.

“I am so nervous.” Jaejoong said hugging his brother.

“You’ll be fine.”

--

“Do you take Kim Jaejoong to be your lawfully wedded spouse?”

“I do.”

“Do you take Jung Yunho to be your lawfully wedded spouse?”

“I do.”

“You may kiss each other.”

Cheers sounded throughout and out of which, two young voices stood out the most.

Well, not everyone got to witness their parents’ wedding.

--

Jaejoong laid on the bed with Junsu and Yoochun at either of his sides.

“Is that our brother?” Junsu asked as he put his hands and ear to Jaejoong’s growing belly.

“Yes, baby, it is.” Jaejoong said as he stroked Junsu’s hair.

“Umma, he is so playful!” Yoochun exclaimed as he mimicked Junsu’s actions.

“Ouch! Umma!” A whine emitted from Junsu. “The baby just kicked me!”

Junsu rubbed his ‘injured’ cheek and crawled into Jaejoong’s arms, wanting to be pampered a little.

“My poor duck!” Jaejoong claimed, kissing Junsu’s chubby cheek.

“Umma…” Junsu’s voice grew soft. “…will I still be your duckie when the baby comes?”

“Of course, my cutie.” Jaejoong caressed Junsu’s hair. “You will be my duckie forever.”

“What about me, Umma?” Yoochun came closer as well.

“And you will my Micky forever as well.”

--

“He is so tiny!” Junsu squealed upon seeing a little baby sleeping a cot.  Junsu stood on his tippy-toes, peering through the bars of the cot which he was clutching on to.

“Quietly, duck, the baby is sleeping.” Yunho informed his now second youngest child.

“Why won’t he open his eyes appa?” Yoochun asked, his gaze fixed on the new family member.

“He will, soon enough, he will.” Yunho said. The three males continued to look at new baby, almost as if in a trance.

“So have you two thought of a name for your brother?” Yunho asked, looking down at the two youngsters.

“Junsu!” Junsu exclaimed. Yunho laughed.

“Not your name, baby. Another name for your brother.” He explained.

“Hmm…how about Hyunjae?” Yoochun recommended. Yunho gave it a thought.

“How about…how about…baby!” Junsu offered.

“No, duckie, we cant name the baby baby.” Yunho chuckled.

“Changmin! Appa, how about Changmin?” Yoochun asked.

Changmin it was.

--

“Changmin!” Jaejoong yelled. “Come back here you little tyke!”

A bare Changmin ran after an equally bare Junsu. “Mine. Toy mine!” Junsu poked his tongue out at Changmin while running away after taking his yellow duck.

The two chased each other around for a few more seconds until Junsu let out a yelp as he was lifted off the ground.

“Gotcha, ducky.” Yunho scooped Junsu into his arms. “Now give me that toy.”

Junsu gingerly placed the toy duck into his father’s hand. He was set down and asked to run along to the bathroom.

Yunho then picked up Changmin and carried the little boy to the bathroom.

Junsu was getting ready to jump into the tub of bubbles when Yunho and Changmin entered the bathroom. Yoochun had already soaked himself and was enjoying making bubbles when Junsu destroyed the stillness of the bath. Yunho gently placed the 2 year old into the warm bubble bath as well who quickly joining his brothers in playing with the bubbles.

“Let’s get to work, darling.” Yunho said pecking Jaejoong’s lips.

The two parents rolled up their sleeves with every intention to clean every speck of dirt behind each ear of the three boys.

--

Jaejoong adjusted the cooling pack on Yoochun’s forehead with one hand while his other arm was busy holding a wailing Junsu.

“Shh, baby.” Jaejoong cooed at Junsu, rubbing his back. “The medicine will work in no time.”

“H-hurts, Umma.” Junsu croaked, his throat was really hurting him.

“It’ll be ok, baby.” Jaejoong kissed his tear-stained cheek.

The door creaked open. “Umma…” a tiny hesistant voice called.

“Minnie?” Jaejoong asked and the door opened to reveal a snot-dripping Changmin who clutched his baby blue blanket to his chest.

“Come here, baby.” Jaejoong motioned Changmin over. Plucking a tissue from the bedside drawer, Jaejoong bent down to wipe Changmin’s nose.

“Hyung-duel ok, Umma?” Changmin questioned.

“They’ll be ok.” Jaejoong assured. “You go to sleep, alright?”

Changmin nodded and used the stool to climb up onto his parent’s bed and lied down beside Yoochun. Jaejoong asked Changmin to scoot over, wanting to maintain a safe distance between the two sick boys.

Jaejoong sat down on a chair, still consoling a hiccupping Junsu. He was exhausted. The boys had been ill since early evening and it was nearing 4 a.m. in the morning. There was yet to be sign of Yunho’s arrival.

What a day to work overtime.

His hopes perked up the moment he heard the click of the front door. Thankfully a suit-clad man made his entrance at the master bedroom moments later.

“Jaejoong…how are the boys doing?” He hurried over to the younger man, dumping his suitcase at the door and undoing his tie.

“A-appa?” Junsu croaked. Soon enough, Yunho found himself with an armful of a sick boy.

“Duckie, is your throat still hurting baby?” Yunho asked and Junsu weakly nodded in return.

“We are going to the doctor’s the first thing in the morning.” Yunho said, rubbing Junsu’s back.

“Now, try to sleep, baby.” Yunho told Junsu, who had his arms circled around Yunho’s neck and head resting on his shoulder.

“Come, Jaejoong, you look like you need sleep as well.”

Everything becomes alright when daddy gets home.

--

20 years later….

“It’s already 7.30 pm, do you think they will be late?” a 46 year old Jaejoong asked Yunho.

“Stop worrying, they’ll be here soon.” And soon enough the door bell rung.

The door opened to reveal an over-happy Junsu, a grinning Yoochun and a smiling Changmin.

“Umma!” a 24 year old Junsu squealed, glomping Jaejoong letting out his infamous laugh.

“Don’t kill Umma, alright?” Yoochun, now aged 26, said as he pried Junsu off and went to hug his mother.

Junsu then turned to Yunho, who became his next glomp victim. When Yoochun finally let go of his mother, Changmin shyly kissed Jaejoong on the cheek while wishing him a happy new year.

The five sat around the dinner table, eagerly exchanging stories while they ate Jaejoong’s scrumptious food which Changmin had missed most. Jaejoong made sure to scoop a little more vegetable for his ducky boy which of course met with a protest.

“Umma!” Junsu yelled, unhappy that his mother still treated him like a baby. Although, Junsu had been the middle child, he was often regarded as the youngest especially after Changmin had matured in his teens. Changmin had grown out of his pampered self as he grew while Junsu still needed his Umma to cuddle him every now and then.  However, it did not mean that Changmin did not know how to play the magnae card. While he could be mature most of the times, he did play baby when time came. Well, usually when he fought with Junsu.

“Eat.” Jaejoong ordered with a slight glare. No one could go against Umma when it came to food. Or anything else for that matter. Changmin laughed at Junsu and Junsu retaliated by kicking him under the table. Due to the dreadful aim, Yoochun got kicked instead.

“Junsu!” Yoochun yelped, poking Junsu’s forehead.

“There, there.” Jaejoong tried to calm them down. “You might have grown physically but I have doubts about you growing mentally.”

Oh yes, they had grown physically. Changmin, being the youngest, stood almost half a head taller than Yunho. He had really surprised every one during his puberty age. Well, one could blame tall genes from both parents. Yoochun came second, standing slightly shorter than Yunho. It was Junsu who had lagged behind in the height department. While his two brothers reached his father’s height, Junsu stood only an inch taller than Jaejoong.

“I wouldn’t say that for myself, Umma.” Junsu reasoned. “You might want to ask Changmin why is he only growing in length but wouldn’t even budge in the head.”

“Yah! Shut up, Junsu-ah!” Changmin yelled.

“That’s Junsu-hyung for you, Min.” Jaejoong said sternly. Junsu just showed his tongue to Changmin.

Well, what Junsu claimed was only half true. Changmin had grown a lot in terms of height but he was smart as well. He was in his second year of doing Medicine in Seoul University. In fact all the brothers had done well in school. Junsu had just graduated from university after studying sports science while Yoochun had long became a composer. Surprising none of them had followed their parent’s paths of becoming either a lawyer or a cook.

The dinner came to an end soon enough but the chatter had yet die down.

--

The family of five stood in the balcony, enjoying the night’s breeze. The two cuddlers, Yoochun and Junsu, snuggled up to Jaejoong’s side while Changmin stood next to his Appa.

When it was nearly midnight the family came closer with Yunho behind Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu at Jaejoong’s either sides and Changmin holding Junsu from behind

The family got ready to cheer as the countdown began…

5…

4…

3…

2…

1…

“Happy new year!” Jaejoong turned his head around and caught Yunho’s lips in a kiss while the 5 gathered into a hug.

…Because they are not five but one.
