A while ago, I started on some reviews, but got distracted by the bushfires before I could finish. I'm not going to finish them now, but I'd just like to point out that I intend to, eventually ( Read more... )

Heya. The soy milk things is over played. It does cause issues if you're buying contaminated soy OR having it in HUGE amounts. The likelyhood of a soy allergy is about the same as a dairy one...

Anyhow, want some recipes and stuff? I ahve a number of vegan and vegetarian cookbooks, heaps of awesome recipes and not-so-many recipes with my old laptop but I can find you some good ones and re-locate adresses for some good shops.

There's a place out in Footscray called Vincent's that you'll want to get acquainted with if you're planning on cutting meat altogether. Best vegan/vegetarian food shop around.

Sure, recipes would be welcome. Although this whole "vegan" thing is really surprising my parents because there were times I bordered on being carnivorous in my youth. I'm a fussy eater, and meat tends to be "safe".

If you know any stores that stock things like TVP, the advice would be VERY welcome. So far, I only know one place to buy the stuff, and they only have the one sort. I'll have to take a look at that place in Footscray.

Definitely chec out Vincent's it has a lot of different mock meats including chicken nuggest and squid that are both really tasty mock ups. The buddhist place on Queen St in the CBD uses their stuff and D&A buy a lot there (they're veg). Coles usually has a decent section for health foods which includes vegan stuff, and the tvp and that are kept in the cooler ection... it varies from suburb to suburb.

I'll probably go back to mostly vegetarian once I've moved into my own place. I find it too hard when living with a meat eater. A fussy one at that :/
