1) Kara setting Tim up was... somewhere between cute/playful and yet also despicable, considering Tim's position in their household. She (any of them) obviously is not understanding what a very real threat they all pose to Tim. I'll bet Lois being so comfortable with them has given them all sorts of wrong ideas about how they appear to the rest of the human race. 1) Yah, Kara creeped me out a bit when I was writing this. Kara especially, but Kon too, have a bit of "Ivory Tower Syndrome" going on. They just don't understand the big scary monster they've been made out to be. Not when most people they interact with praise them and consider them heroes.
They're the royalty of Metropolis and they understand how they view the bats, but they don't see how the reverse can be applied to themselves. They've honestly never questioned that they are the good guys.
2) Ah! Shiva's influence on Tim is one of my favorite things Chuck Dixon gave to Tim's character. Love it!
Reply/Answer: Tim is scared of actually having to fight Kon. He has no weapons in the gym with him. His best shot is trying to project calm and prevent the situation from escalating. That doesn't mean he's not freaking out internally and running through what he should do were he forced to fight. Also Kon really sucks at reading Tim's facial expressions and body language.
