I actually recommended Dropbox to a client I was talking to the other day, despite not having used it before, but it seemed to suit his purposes. Have taken this opportunity to sign up myself :) Not sure if I want to use it as a free mini off site backup or to share things publically, or share files and apps and stuff instead of faffing with a USB drive when I go between the office and client sites. Hmm.
Talk to me about privacy and public use concerns - if I use it to back up uni work, will I suffer plagarism accusations because a match for my essay can be found via a search term? How safe actually is it? I know you'd not be using it without having researched it so I ask you as the most immediate information source rather than doing my own, though am prepared to if necessary.
Just to note; If people do run Dropbox please turn off the Lan Sync feature, where it looks for other dropbox clients on the network, as it uses (and broadcasts) on port 17500 which is used by the CrazzyNet backdoor. Your network admin (if they are any good) will not be happy to suddenly see traffic on that port bouncing around their network.
