A friendship dilemma

Wow. Methinks she just likes being an idiot and has found 'being from Romania' a usable crutch. I would venture a guess that most Romanians probably don't act that way, and would be offended at her suggestion that her behavior is normal. I would be tempted to just start ignoring her. I'm near her and she starts talking about sex or whatever else she does, I probably would just get up and walk away, with no explanation. If she asks why, tell her that you've decided that Romanians are obnoxious. ;)

She sounds ridiculously annoying. My sympathies.

I agree with Doomspark about getting together with several of your friends and giving Alex a serious talking to. You should make sure she understands that she's your friend, but that she makes you - and everyone else, of course - uncomfortable when she does this, that, and the other ( ... )

Er..... She's not my co-worker. She's a classmate. This isn't an employee dispute, it's between friends in school. I don't work in her lab, so telling her advisor wouldn't do anything as we don't actually *work* together. We just have classes, hang out, etc.

And I don't think telling the department head is the appropriate course of action either.
