Sometimes "I don't want to talk" means just that...

I am genuinely confused as to why my response of "No, I don't want to talk about it." is continually and repeatedly ignored by those that consider me their friend. Is there some code of friendship that I don't know? That when I'm depressed that I HAVE to speak to someone? That when I say "I don't want to talk about it" it really means "I want to ( Read more... )

Because many (shallow) people actually DO want to dump all of their complaints and problems onto other people and be hugged and cuddled and comforted and told that it'll be all right, but they would sound selfish if they just up and SAID that, so they are being clever by saying "No, I don't want to talk about it" when they actually DO.

We've all had to deal with people like this, so a lot of good-hearted people think that whenever someone says "I don't want to talk about it", they mean that they DO want to.
