Yep, that's a woodpecker. I was wandering through the woods about a week ago, and one of then was hopping around on a fallen tree about two feet away from me. I stood and watched him for about ten minutes before he went up another tree. He looked like he was having fun.

I did google for images of the Acorn Woodpecker, which I frequently saw flashes of while down in California, but never managed to get a good photo of.

I suspect this one was a young bird, as he seemed slightly fluffy, and was smaller than the woodpeckers I saw in Napa.

But then again, I'm not much of a birder (yet) and I have been known to be wrong.

That would be a Downy Wookpecker, they're always small and fluffy.
