SARAH I ALWAYS WONDER IF IT IS A TOTAL WASTE REPLYING TO YOUR COMMENTS BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW IF YOU READ THEM OR NOT.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
kschee bookings are annoying. mr ow and miss chen are so incompetent. i mean like, hello, malay drama has their performance the week before ours, last saturday of the june holidays. so logically, they would book the kschee for that last week. which they did. because they have Smart Teacher I/Cs. we have Chen and Ow. i wonder if they google their names cos if they do i'm in deep shit. but oh hell. well because they have the kschee from 9am to three-ish, we can only have it after that (and not all the time because of Band. what the hell is the band doing rehearsing during the holidays? their performance is over, non?) and shit that was our week for full dresses and full runs and mr ow forgot to book for the week of performance itself (well actually it was ms chen who was supposed to handle the bookings in the first place. geniuses, we have) so i hope we can get kschee slots because i don't know what we'd do if we didn't can we camp out in school after hours or use it during lesson time i really don't know i want to cry.
it wouldn't be so bad if we could just go in and use it when no one's around but the thing is the security guard has a stick up his ass and refuses to turn on the air-conditioning for us unless we have teacher validation. like this morning. i came at about 8 and lazed around the kschee reading when the security guard stormed in and demanded to know what i was doing in there, and i told him we had cca, and that we had booked (according to my very inaccurate schedule. turns out it was a proposed schedule, more like an "it would be ideal to have the kschee on such and such a date" rather than "we have the kschee on such and such a date." thanks for telling me two weeks into rehearsals, mr ow. you know, i'm okay without prior notice. really.), and he said no one told him anything. so he demanded to know who had booked the kschee for us, and to check with the general office, then get back to him.
two problems:
a) i tried the general office yesterday, when malay drama chased me out of the kschee (my schedule said "KSChee" but the malay drama schedule has precise timings and venues for every day leading up to their performance and it says "KSC, 8.30am-3pm".) and miss christina was also nursing a stick up her ass because she told me i had to contact mr ow. which i did attempt to, but i got his freaky answering machine instead. then he also happily informs me that he is on mc, and he cannot remember what bookings we have. hurrah!
b) DOOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE PAST WEEK AND A HALF I HAVE WALTZED IN HERE AT THE UNGODLY HOUR OF 8 IN THE MORNING (OR EVEN 7.45) AND YOU TURN ON THE AIR-CON FOR ME WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU NOW?
so okay, i call mr ow. answering machine, then an sms. and he tells me that strings ensemble has the kschee from 6am-12noon, and us til 2.30, then band from 3 to 6. apparently strings was having a camp. IF THEY WERE HAVING A CAMP, 6AM WOULD BE WAKE-UP TIME, NON? THEN WHY WAS THERE NO ONE IN THE KSCHEE? but we moved out anyway, to block h, which mr ow happily informs me that we have for the whole day. whoopee, that made my day. thanks, mr ow, because block h size really = kschee size. what, the kschee is at least twice the size of block h? nawww, couldn't be. the stagehands used the kschee. apparently strings had their camp elsewhere. POSSIBLY SOMEWHERE CLEANER. I'M SURPRISED MY PIERCING ISN'T INFECTED YET. we come back at 2 and the security guard says he won't turn on the air-conditioning w/o our teacher informing him of the booking first, because. uh. i suppose he doesn't want random girls just strolling in and using the kschee. Brilliance. so we work in the heat and humidity and wait for mr ow to come.
the band didn't arrive, in the end.
mr ow gives me new bookings sheet. he finally got around to printing one out I TOLD MISS CHEN WAY WAY BACK THAT THE IDEAL REHEARSAL TIME DURING JUNE WAS EVERY SINGLE DAY, 9AM TO 5PM. BUT DID SHE LISTEN? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. mr conolly always printed out bookings sheets *______* i miss conolly he is so much more efficient and he really gives a damn for theatre, for one, and for another, he's so pro with the lights. now i am negotiating with miss lim, the band teacher, the possibility of band not having rehearsals on the last week of june, so we can have the kschee after malay drama.
miss lim: "But ur tr din say she ask 4 13 n 16 n 31" which i assume means audrey chen didn't ask for the 13th and 16th and 21st of june or something which shows just how geniusy audrey is. then i ask miss lim why the band must have rehearsals during the holidays (i mean. if we didn't have a performance ld would be slacking). then she says "hello hols oso have cca wat. :)" and i am sad for the band people, and even sadder for us.
ENSEMBLE SCENES NEXT MON TUES. MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST BECAUSE WE HAVE FULL CAST ONLY ON THOSE TWO DAYS NEXT WEEK. AT LAST, MAUREEN AND YVONNE WILL BE BACK, AND BEN CAN TAKE A WELL-DESERVED BREAK.
i really don't know what annoys me the most. if:
1) mr conolly was still here
2) miss chen/mr ow cared more about drama
3) sandy leow had been made our teacher i/c after conolly left to become a hippie in england or something
4) the school didn't have that stupid rule about no performances after july (fuck it's not like we have o levels anymore, dammit. THEN WE WOULD NOT HAVE SO MANY FRICKIN CLASHES.)
5) audrey had been smart enough to ask for a date for our performance that didn't clash with In Conversation (compulsory for some sec 4s)
6) audrey didn't put her school-parent meeting before our performance, thus forcing us to do a thursday saturday, rather than friday saturday. (which is disgusting, because math test was supposed to be the friday inbetween, and hello. you've just worked your ass off til about 11+pm the night before you don't exactly want to come to school, especially when friday lessons suck.) ETA: MATINEE TICKET SALES SUCK SHIT BECAUSE OF SO MANY REASONS I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT. ALSO, TICKET DESIGN REJECTED LIKE. TWICE. WHICH ALSO WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF NOT FOR OUR DEAR CHEN AND OW.
7) the old security guard was still here (he is much nicer, and would probably turn the air-con on for us regardless. hey we stole their sofa for the play and they were okay with it)
8) there was no rule about having the classrooms locked on non-school days, thus forcing people to ask miss christina to open the doors, and forcing miss christina to go ballistic on them, thus cultivating in nice nice miss christina some total bitch complex.
9) the school had bigger facilities
10) ld was somehow rich enough to rent someplace like ACS, like the choir does
then i think. i think things might be alot easier. ESPECIALLY IF CONOLLY WAS BACK. ESPECIALLY.
tomorrow we have the raffles room to rehearse in. not even the kschee. the raffles room. it's almost a classroom, for crying out loud. why not blk H, isn't it technically our room? oh right... ld doesn't have a room in the school anymore. god only knows why. i bet malay drama has blk h they are so smart. apparently they are also doing something to the kschee air-conditioner tomorrow.
i don't know a;slfjk;aslfkdjas;dk mel is obviously overly ranty and not coherent. mel will go cry in a corner now, and try not to think about math (i suck at differentiation, this test is the tuesday after our performance [which is incidentally called "Aftermath" it is sheer brilliance i am in love with our play] we do not have time to study), history PT, eng PT(QIANNI YOU STOLE MY HANDOUT), chinese homework (it is seriously the thickest stack of chinese i have seen in my life. and it isn't exactly that easy to complete, because uh. my chinese is extremely substandard. extremely. i just pretend that reading all this manga/chinese newspaper shit helps.) and god knows what else because by the time i get home all i want to do is sleep. i think. i think. i either want:
a) a holiday. the kind where i sit for weeks and weeks on end at home watching tv until i am so bored i want to smash myself into a wall, and then get spurred to start my homework to alleviate the boredom, and finish it all by the third week of june hols.
b) rehearsals, where all i have to worry about is rehearsals. i get home, read through the notes i made in the directors' journal (hannah's and joey's. not mine. only because they are MIA), decide what scenes to do the next day, have dinner/shower/watch french open/sleep. then i wake up and go to school and do the scenes (in the kschee. like last year, where i could sleep backstage and have someone like siewch come wake me, or conolly peering down at me/whoever else decided to recline on the other half of the sofa, while lin tong would be ironing costumes and the stagehands would be setting up scenes or painting blocks and they would all come and actually receive my smses and reply and not be overseas) i wrote down the day before, feel happy about our Productiveness, go home, and it starts all over again. round and round until production draws near and we can get busier and the scenes will be memorised and natural and beautiful and it will make me cry watching it/thinking about it and the soundtrack will be marvellous and the set transitions will be seamless and the audience will laugh appropriately, and hopefully even cry appropriately, and mel will cry buckets and still come down on tuesdays and thursdays to say hi to the rest of ld anyway.
i am now having some semblance of b, but the homework nags and campaign nags (though it is not bad, actually :D) and ;alsfjkd;aslfkdj;asfjkld )))))))):
