It's to be expected when moving into a newly-developed area. Be consoled by the fact that you won't experience the cicada swarms next time they come around.
Yes, that's true, but still, one invaded and he/she should not survive...
Is there any area that will experience cicada's?? last time they came out, I guess I didn't see the issue as there had been sooooo much construction, I'm sure many of the homes were destroyed....
We had that problem, a little bit, last year. I live in a semi-detached... the neighbor came over saying she'd seen mice running around! I told her I'd seen two... both of them, stone dead, right next to the food dish... apparently whomever did them in left them for the other cats as a snack. Awwww.
The neighbors have a cat too, but apparently she's a lazy shit. :)
I never found anything anywhere near the food... but the cats adore the kitchen for its window that looks down on the birds' nests. Never thought I'd be happy that the little hairy bastards love to jump up on the counter, but I guess it saved my food. :)
I asked the vet if Lyme was a risk, and he said "Maybe for you, but not for the cats. They don't get it, I mean, they get it but they laugh at it." Kind of cool... cats are naturally not prone to the top disease vectors of mice. Nature rocks.
I'd loan you my baddest-ass hunter if it weren't for the allergens!
Yeah, i had a great huntress before moving out here, but she was used to being outside/inside and brought me many dead gifts on my front door. I couldn't bring her to a small apartment in a city from the 1/2 acre and many open fields near where I lived...
We have the same problem, but luckily just in our basement. They eat the bird seed from the garage, and find their way in somehow through there. I love finding little seed shell piles in the basement. Joy.
Unfortunately, Jeff says that Kali isn't doing her job. She's also not hypo-allergenic, but she doesn't bother me that much.
We have plenty of WMD (especially for mouse sized invaders), but we don't know if they are still there or not. Let's just say we're getting some traps and other such good stuff.. :)

I don't know your feelings on snakes, but there are predatory pets that aren't furry. :)
Good luck getting rid of the little vermin.
