...and it really was atrocious. Ten minutes in I realized I was watching a movie that was designed for two sorts of people. Children and morons. My initial plan was to get drunk so I would be the latter but I went to a ten a.m. screening and I wasn't about to get drunk in the morning. I was hanging out with a bunch of friends out here, and the new transformers movie came up. I still haven't seen more then 5 minutes of the first one (which I stumbled upon while admiring the new 72" LCDs at Best Buy :D) but I wasn't horribly thrilled with it either.
The opinion that most of my friends out here held was that it was a whiz-bang movie that really only worked if you liked big explosions and horribly predictable plot lines.
It is pretty damn sad to see our entertainment industry strip out all creativity and art from our movies and basically turn them into fodder for the troglodytes that seem to make up a significant portion of our population.
I wonder why this phenomenon is so prevelant in US culture? I suppose it's time to start watching foreign films and see how far this trend extends..
