The first time he caught them was just outside Garcia’s domain. Derek had Garcia pinned against the wall, hands on either side of her head, and he was bent in close, whispering in her ear. Spencer found it an odd way to talk to one another, but given neither of them spoke to each other like they did the rest of the team, Spencer shrugged it off.

“Hey guys,” he greeted them, and Derek jumped back, putting at least a foot if not more between him and Garcia, and his eyes were wide with shock when he looked at Spencer. Garcia, on the other hand, was doing her best to disappear in to the wall, flushed red and wide eyes frantically darting between the two men.

“Hey Spencer,” Derek finally greeted him, offering him a smile that looked forced.
Spencer smiled back with his own honest smile, though he was confused about what was going on, and why he felt like he was missing something.

“JJ’s got a case. Team’s meeting in the conference room in ten,” he relayed the message, adjusting how the strap from his bag laid on his shoulder.

“Okay. Thanks kid,” Derek replied and Garcia peeled herself off the wall and disappeared into her office.

“I’ll uh…” Spencer started and hooked a thumb over his shoulder. “I’ll see you there.”

The second time Spencer caught them was a few weeks later at the bar, after successfully saving a child and capturing the unsub. He’s had two drinks, enough to relax and let his foot tap to the beat of the bass. He’s about to ask Derek if he wanted another, but when he looked over the man was gone, and a quick glance around their circle confirmed that Garcia was as well. It wasn’t all that surprising, given those two liked to dance more than any of the others on the team.

He slid off his stool, taking a quick glance at the others’ drinks before pitching his voice loud enough to be heard over the music, “Anyone want another?”

JJ, Emily, and Rossi looked up at him, all taking a quick look down at their drinks, before shaking their heads. Spencer knew it would only be a few more minutes before JJ excused herself to go home to Will and Henry. Emily and Rossi should follow shortly thereafter, unless Emily chose to join Morgan and Garcia on the dance floor. He quickly debated the idea of being left at the table all alone and decided to make a detour toward the bathroom. He’d leave when JJ did, walk her out to her car, before he caught the metro home.

He deftly maneuvered down the crowded, darkened hallway toward the bathroom. There were couples lining the walls, bodies pressed together, writhing against one another. He carefully scooted past them, murmuring apologies to the few he bumped into but they were not concerned with him. He was almost to the men’s room door when a familiar flash of blonde and pink hair caught his eye and he stopped dead in his tracks, ignoring the angry curses tossed at him as people flowed around him.

He could tell it was Morgan pressed up against her, even in the dim lighting. One of her pale hands had wormed its way under his shirt, and Spencer couldn’t help but follow her hand as it trailed up and down Morgan’s back. He honestly hadn’t realized there was more to them than Morgan’s baby girl and Garcia’s constant over the top flirting in return.

He felt invasive as he watched them make out, the slow slide of their tongues together, Morgan’s hand gently holding Garcia’s face. His cheeks flushed with embarrassment and perhaps a bit of arousal when Garcia’s other hand snaked down to grab Morgan’s jean-clad ass. He cleared his throat, suddenly wishing he’d gone to the bar rather than the bathroom.

“Gorgeous, aren’t they?” JJ asked and Spencer flinched, drawn out of spying on Morgan and Garcia. He spun around to give her a look and she offered him a smile and a shrug. “They’ve been doing this, off and on for years,” she elaborated and Spencer couldn’t keep the shock off his face.

“Really? But I thought… What about Kevin?” he asked, studying JJ as she gave them another glance over her shoulder.

“She’s not cheating on him if that’s what you’re asking. They just seem to keep gravitating back to one another. One day they are going to wake up and realize what’s going on.”

“What’s going on?” Spencer asked, turning to look back over his shoulder again, and watch as Morgan continued to devour Garcia’s mouth.

“You really always the last to know, aren’t you?” Emily’s voice joined the conversation and Spencer flinched again. He turned to face and give her an irritated look. “Well by the time they figure it out, you oughta too,” she added with a wink before moving past him.

“Hey,” Spencer called after her, about to yell again when he snapped his mouth shut in fear of alerting Morgan and Garcia to his presence.

Instead he turned to JJ, but she just shook her head. “I’m sure you’ll figure it out Spencer.”
