wednesday, nearly there

So, yesterday I administered the reading FCAT. Time will tell (say, around June, when the scores come back) if my kids did well/if the school keeps its "A" rating/I remain out of trouble/teachers get bonuses next year. I dare anyone who fails to understand this to try teaching for a year.

*hugs* Yeah, people who try to tell me No Child Left Behind is a good thing risk losing a limb.

And now we've gotten our scores back; writing dropped a little, reading improved. But not enough. Looks like we'll be a B school next year, and I look forward Monday to my annual ass-chewing by the Principal. *sigh*

My best friend of 20 years left high school teaching last year to become a teacher's assistant in a 2d grade classroom. Her ultimate goal is to become a principal of an elementary school. All that to say she had to just get. out.

Yeah, I was right there; I've had to change my mind because when I was honest with myself, law school and its associated mountain of debt was not going to be a prudent move in this economy. Somewhere down the line...maybe.

It sucks that something I've really loved doing can get dragged down to the point of "gotta get through another year", but there you have it.
