Arielle had her 1st ever dance competition yesterday. It was a small studio competition designed to give the kids experience and confidence getting up on a stage on their own.

Arielle did 4 dances. 1 ballet, 1 tap, 1 jazz and 1 improvisation. She got 2 1st places and 2 2nd places. I was very proud of her.

Thanks Astra :)

And yes...pink is her favourite colour, followed by purple. That's not the reasonn why she's wearing the pink costume and tu-tu though. That's what she had to wear :)

My lil girl just passed he 1st Tap Exam with Honours from the Aussie Ballet Co.

She also just completed her Troupe Exams a few weeks back and got 2nd in Jazz and 1st in Tap....was brilliant and I love watching it.

SHe has her Jazz exams comming up in 4 weeks...Lots of training and lots of money on various costumes, new shoes etc.

We are now buying 2 sets of shoes from USA each year...hint hint.

My mother has had a dance school for some 40 years...and is a local and international examiner....so Arielle's dancing doesn't really cost me much at all :) My mother buys her ballet, tap and jazz shoes too and she gets them at a discount and she generates a lot of business for the local ballet shop.

Arielle has only just turned 4 but has been dancing since she was 18 months old. Did her first exam a couple of weeks after turning 2 and should be doing another one this year. I'm thinking that I may take her to another dance studio next year as well so see how she goes when she doesn't know the teachers.

Also, I think you have the Aust Ballet co thingy wrong :P They don't do tap. Maybe the Australian Teachers of Dancing?? Or something like that??

Good on your daughter! And good on you for going along to watch...because not many dads do! Only a small handful!
