Iowa, why do you think (or more importantly, why do many people think) that you matter all that much? Good for Obama, not my first choice, but ok; however, after listening to several annoying proclamations last night that he is now a juggernaut on the way to the nomination, it occured to me that No, Iowa (or the 200,000 that actually caucased), you ( Read more... )

What is promising about the Iowa Caucus is the unexpected number of people who turned out for the event. For a nation that rarely has younger citizens motivated to be involved, there's a greater chance (should the trend continue) that a democrat will control the executive office next election.

This following remark is where we invariably differ: I'm happy for both Obama and Edwards campaigns but I hope this surge in support doesn't tank like Dean's bid in 2004. I shed no tears for Hillary's troubles, because many republicans and democrats I know really can't stand her. Her nomination would hurt chances of a democratic win in November.

Yes, turnout is good and usually helps Dems, so that is good.
Ive listened to Obama and he has done nothing to spark my interest really. He might be a change candidate, but his lack of experience is troubling. Id like to say that change is enough, but it isnt. Also, I still cant believe that America as a whole will vote for a Black man, which is sad, but frankly probably true. I do think that Hillary, as a white woman, has more of a national chance. I still like, Edwards too. Hes really been working on his policy and issues, nearly as good as Kucinich
