 1. So our house is Warsaw is possibly the largest house I have ever or will ever live in. It's four storeys with five bedrooms, a spacious but not overly large yard, and a two-car garage of the variety where it is one very long room that is one car wide, so you block one car when you park both cars. Luckily, we are only going to have one car here ( Read more... )

Yeah, our house in Romania was 4 floors and we ended up not even using one of them. Like, it was dusty and there were cobwebs and a leaky window when GSO came to check us out. They snarked about not noticing the window leak and reporting it, and I was like "Does it LOOK like we ever come up here?" It was like the forest of Mirkwood, so clearly not!

Also, I don't know if you remember, but I am tentatively scheduled to be your geopolitical neighbor come summer 2021. So if you're still around, let's have coffee?

I do remember! But we got this assignment back when European tours were still two years with an optional three, instead of three straight out. We have to say in November if we want to stay the third year - and right now, both boys hate it here. I won't willingly sign up to stay somewhere they're miserable, no matter how much I might like it.

If State's willing to extend the deadline, then I'm willing to wait and see. But if not, neither will we.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that... but I could not empathize more. As much as I love my job (and I do love it --I have excellent staff, and will literally not get another career opportunity this good for the next 5-10 years) our curtailment was like a little mini miracle in the Holy Land for the rest of the family. And there's no job that makes watching my kids sit alone at school events worth it, not even this one.

I know you mentioned the place in the unknown place was large, but not quite that large. You can begin to grow veggies in the spare bedrooms, or have a hobby room for each kid. Well maybe it when and if you ever come back to the Technicolor Townhouse will have magically expanded or your stuff will shrink to fit. I started working on one of my jigsaw puzzles yesterday and it is a tough one. Doing them is like making costumes because you need to pay attention.
