Okay, so I've been knocking this idea around for awhile now, and I just hit upon a solution to a question I had which was bugging me, so now I'm going to lay out what I've thought of so far, just for fun.
This post is full of win and delightful ideas. I like the way the game is very open ended and you can choose to play the game different ways, and I really like the idea of your character being uploaded and then used as a zombie in somebody else's game. That's just awesome. =D WTB [Huxley's Zombie Game] PST!!
Reading your post made me think about if a Zombie MMORPG (or probably MMOFPS or MMOAdventureGame or something XD) would be feasible. Replace Alliance and Horde with humans and zombies. Maybe throw in some ways for people to switch factions on rare occasions by allowing humans to be zombie-fied or zombies to be redeemed or something. Because clearly zombies deserve to be represented in a variety of game genres (Super Zombie Kart Racing!!)
I recently played a flash game (and posted it on ToH, but nobody seemed to notice) where, during the day, you divided up your time between looking for survivors, fixing your barricade, and looking for supplies. (Supplies meaning guns, survivors allowing you to spend more time looking for stuff. Though the more time you spent looking, the more likely it was that somebody would be killed while you were out looking

Haha, I actually happened across that thread today and it was while playing that, that various things in this post occurred to me =P No clue how I missed it the first time around

In general, it makes me a little bit angry that more games don't have destructible walls. It opens up a lot in terms of strategy. Not to mention the fear I felt when, thinking I was safe from the giant robot by going through the small door, it suddenly decides to blow a hole big enough to fit through.
Reduction is always key. Simplify and all that. What if, as a method of survival, the hardware store became a good place to have access to. Obviously in selecting a location to hold up in, there are a lot of things to consider. Food is a big one, but immediate survival is maybe a little higher on the list. A hardware store could become a veritable fortress.
Also, if it could be made possible to somehow get across the tops of buildings in a city, maybe by laying boards down?
This post is full of epic win, I am really itching for this game now. If I go to college and major in computer science I'm working for emperor huxley for sure
