Ok, so I've got an opportunity to take a significant step in acheiving my dream I've been offered a position that will offer several invaluable benefits and I will learn a lot. I may never get another opportunity like this

Tell them now. You should take the job.
Sucks for them, but they will never have a better box office girl then you -- so no time will be good to leave.

Its never easy to leave a job....well unless you hate it and hate everyone you work with. But you have said many a time that they knew you wouldn't be working there forever. So its not going to be that big of a surprise to them. Plus like you said this will be something you want to do- and a really big reason you moved to California in the first place.
