i think about these things a lot.

that I have learned it is important to ask questions,
to question
everything. Only through doing this can we find the truths
behind what we always accepted to be certain.

that the universe is cruel and meaningless, but humans don't have to be
we can choose
nihilism doesn't work in the end because of love
we have the ability to love, to experience love--
the true connection that gives us the ability, the sight,
to surpass the barrier that allows for cruelty
and instead come upon the understanding of fellow humanity.
if one recognizes something that too experiences suffering as great as one's own
there is a profound understanding
a lifting of the veil of chaos and emptiness
and a meaning looking at you, eye to eye
the beauty of a risk one knows is always worth taking.

"For one human being to love another
that is perhaps the most difficult
of our tasks, the ultimate, the last test
and proof the work for which all other work
is but preparation."
Rainer Maria Rilke

That I don't understand our overwhelming desire of our species
to destroy ourselves
and the means to which we go to numb ourselves
to the blatant destruction of life all around us.
we would rather not think about how utterly
insane it all is.

That something big is happening, and we need to be a part of it.

That the human capacity for love
as for suffering
is limitless.

That I am so grateful to carry you with me
every breath
momentarily
colors the void.

That one must be kind.
