the six basic jokes

I'm reading this book on psychology. The author made reference to a theory that there are really only six basic jokes. I've tried to find information on the internet about that but I haven't come up with anything. Is anyone familiar with that concept who can enlighten me

There's an application of this that I think has a lot of merit. If you can get 80% of something out of the way with 20% of the effort it would take to do the whole thing (which is sometimes the case), it's worth considering whether that remaining 20% is worth the effort of completing it.
