You know, this is one of those things that sounds really scary when you're single and childless. But when you're married with kids, it's just all part of the package.

Not saying that having your spouse in serious danger isn't scary; that's terrifying. But the "how will I act" part - just a given.

Reading those words is only partially reasuring.

I just wish I felt better prepared for all of what comes with the package. I guess it's like the old saying "Experience is something you never have enough of... until just after you needed it."

Thanks :)

If you have faith, be it Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Pagan, Budhist, whatever; you pray. You also make sure you have good support; from friends, family and support groups, if need be. Mostly family and friends.

And if you feel the need to freak out, do it with someone you trust; if you feel you can't do it in front of your spouse/significant other. Someone who will let you cry, rage, bitch, throw things, and then not judge or give advice unless asked.

Anything else I can think of, I'll let you know.

If you want, you can give me the first name of your co-worker, his wife and kids; and I'll pray for them.
