I can't comment on AO3 so I figured here would be safe. :-)

This was awesome!!!! I loved seeing a glimpse of the other characters in Jared and Jensen's life. And seriously, this made me tear up in so many places. I now want to come up with a chatechism for my nephews who are nearly the same age as Lucas was in the film. Hahaha. :-

Thank you for giving us more of this verse. :-)

That's actually the catechism my mum used to walk us through when we were young! But my safety phrase wasn't about putting a jersey through the wash it was, "I think I put my red wool sweater in the dryer. Can you grab it out before it shrinks?"

I used it twice, once when I went on a date with this seriously creepy guy who I later found out was actually dangerous and once when this boy was stoned out of his skull and wanted to drive everyone to get Chinese food. All of my friends were fine with getting into his car; I was not. My mum came and rescued me both times and was really pleased I'd called. The second time I was stoned and she was like, "Are you stoned? Did you make a sensible decision after smoking weed? I'm so proud of you." Just like Chad's dad, she accepted I was doing something stupid but I was sixteen and I wasn't stupid enough to get in that car.

I'm so glad you liked this! I was worried as I was using real stuff from Chad's past that people would be angry about it.

I am not at all familiar with the private lives of the cast of characters in most RPF. So I guess that's why I was not affected. I liked that you warned about it so at least I saw that you were thoughtful of your fictionalizing of it.

My dad and mom had different "words of wisdom" they'd share with us when it comes to stupid stuff - it wasn't quite a catechism but they were effective as well.

I think the fact that parents have those conversations are really important and your mom's extremely cool as you were growing up. :-) I hope I'll be like that as a mom. :-)

Really excited to see this posted - and even more excited to discover that you have posted it on AO3! Which is purely for the selfish reason that I can d/l an epub version of the entire verse and read it over and over! :D

I'll be back to comment in a few days when I've had a chance to read the new part - I'm very much looking forward to learning about the chapter in Chad's life :)

I love this verse and miss it. I just checked your LJ to see if there were any updates and found this little surprise. It was nice meeting Chad, Jared and Mike in college and getting to know Chad's background. Hi dad is awesome and it's great to see that Chad and his siblings recognize and appreciate their dad. You had me tearing up quite a few times throughout the story and at the end. I hope (please, please, please) we get to read more in this verse. :D
