I'm now 20 years old. Wow! I feel a bit old, hahahaha. It feels good to have made it this far. I successfully completed my first year of college, discovered what interests me... I feel awesome. I think I'm more focused than ever before.I've opened my eyes wider to other horizons. I realize now that now more than ever, I want to understand what's ( Read more... )

wow 20! you're one year younger than my cousin. but i think maybe alot more mature lol. don't get me wrong i love my cousin but sometimes she's just a bit too oblivious to things

and many claps for wanting to learn. so few people realize what it means anymore

Thank you. I know what you mean, maturity doesn't always come with age. It's definitely something you learn as you get older. I love learning, anything to improve myself to become a better person and feel good at myself.

Happy Birthday! Yeah, I felt old turning 20 too - the land mark of a new decade will do that. Don't worry, though, you've got time ahead of you!

History is neat stuff, though I find myself I don't have a head for general political history. I love learning history in a more narrow sense, such as in art, fashion, cooking, social structure and traditions, etc.

It's good to listen to what's going on currently across the globe, though - I started listening to NPR pretty heavily about 3-4 years ago and I like it alot for its coverage of national and international happenings. I just like their style - also, radio news is more convenient for me than newspapers or TV news. I feel alot more in tune with events when I absorb all that info. So, you keep it up too!

Thank you. I'll enjoy every minute of it.

I love history, especially medieval history. How are the bridesmaids' gowns going? I saw the first one, it was lovely. I think political history is hard, but nevertheless I do feel that I should gain an understanding of it to better understand what's going on right now in the Middle East and with other countries. All the countries in the world are interdependent and I don't want to seem ignorant, especially cuz I'm taking law classes. They say that law is politics and they're right about that.

What is NPR? I've heard people talking about it. I get my news mostly from the Internet or TV. I will definitely keep it up.

The dresses are coming along nicely, thanks! The second one is near completion (but I can't do much more til I get the wearer in front of me) and I'm cutting the third's pieces this week.

NPR - National Public Radio. Actually, technically I listen to WGBH, the local public radio station out of Boston, but it carries programming from NPR like many other public radio stations - usually news programs and the like. I can't tolerate TV news most of the time because there's so much focus on violent crime and general negative garbage, whereas NPR focuses more on general current events and international news. It's also good because I can listen on my drive in to work or sometimes while I do stuff around the apartment with my hands... I love multitasking!

Happy Belated Birthday!^^
Yes, people are certainly ignorant of the world news today. I admit sometimes I'm ignorant of it as well... but I do tune in every now and then... and of course, it also depends upon the news and its source. sometimes it can be misleading as well....

Thanks. I'm feeling good about it. Misleading, yes. I don't tune in to Fox news, ever. I don't like NECN either, but it's the lesser of 2 evils. Sometimes I watch NBC, I do read a lot of msnbc articles though. I prefer google news, ap, reuters, xinhua, NY times, Washington Post...there are so many. I'm not sure about the dailykos though.
