World of Warcraft

I get the sense that trevoke is going to laugh at me here, but tonight nikkoth introduced me to World of Warcraft, and I think I'm going to wind up being addicted. Just what I need now, another addiction to eat up the little free time I have ^_^ But it is fun. Of course, what do you expect, when you get to run around killing things? And eventually getting to run around killing people instead. That'll be fun, pitting yourself against real opponents. I like WoW's take on PvP. You can't get your stuff stolen, you don't lose exp, you don't really have any negative effects. You just need to run for a bit, from a nearby spawn point to get your body. I think the only actual negative effect of dying [whether by PvP or by being killed by a mob] is that your equipment gets a little more beaten up, but your equipment gets beaten up anyway. No real big deal. It'll be very interesting if I ever get high enough to get to these places, and maybe can get involved in an actual battle, large groups of Alliance versus Horde.

Anyway, I made a character. I'm playing a Tauren [an anthropomorphic bull, essentially], named Magou. I thought I was naming him Japanese for "magic cow", but that would be Mago. No extension on the o sound. Crap. Oh well, not the biggest deal, except people will probably think the name is pronounce mah goo. But then, if I'm a giant bull, does it matter if my name is mah goo? :)

I'm playing a Druid, which means eventually I'll be able to shapeshift, which is just plain sexy. I'll get a bear form, a cat form, a... water-cow-thing form, and something else, I think, but much later on. At most I'll be likely to get the bear form, at level ten. I think I'm level six where I left off? Five or six, anyway. So I could, in theory, get it relatively soonish. So I guess we'll see.

For now though, I think bed is calling. I'll have to post about Harry Potter tomorrow, I'm too tired to do a proper review.
