Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize?

I have to admit, I'm a bit confused and surprised. While I think Obama has done some positive things, did he do that much to warrant a Nobel Peace Prize? I'm not quite sure. I woke up to see this article in my e-mail and I had to blink twice to make sure I was reading it right ( Read more... )

I'm not thrilled. The decision is premature and banking on promises rather than real action - something that denies the very reality of politics and the empty promises made to get elected into office. Obama as inspiration ties too closely to the idea of a personality cult, something I'm sure the right wing is happily exploiting as we speak.

I can only hope that in a year, some actions will be done and ideas become reality, but I have to admit, I'm not too optimistic. And how patient will the public be and how long will they be willing to wait before the backlash starts?

And yes, just what we need. More ammunition to the right wing D:

I think that Obama was pretty much as confused by the nomination as I am, according to what I've read.
