In that batch were 6 white (only white!) leghorn pullets, 4 rose comb brown leghorn pullets, and 2 rose comb brown leghorn cockerels. What is your neighbourhood like that you can have chickens? Do you live in suburbia, or is there a greater distance between plots of land there? Over here, if you have animals in suburbia that cause even a little bit of noise, you end up on a show like the Aussie "Today Tonight", where people complain about things happening to them (such as bats living in the forest next door), or supermarkets charging too much for old meat. Ridiculous.
I was lucky enough to grow up on a property with 8 horses - not really a farm, but they certainly took a lot of time to care for, which I enjoyed, being an eventer and avid horse rider. *Sighs* Only two left of them now. :-(
