im in the same situation. im half paki, which comes with the muslim background, and also half white... which comes with everything else.
I used to hate my dad for being the way he is. I don't anymore. I've come to realize that his strict convictions will never change. its just the way he was raised, and he really does believe that pushing me into religion is the best thing for me.
I joined the UTSA student association for islamic dialogue to appease him. Not because I thought i had to, but because islam is part of my heritage, even if i'm not religious.
i know its hard, cuz obviously we're both really liberal and open-minded (PASA! WOO!) and its easy to to hate on the older generation for not being the same way, but you can't hold it against them if they HONESTLY think they're doing what's right. its not just a set of beliefs for them... its a way of life and I guess we've just gotta learn to respect it.
